A three-vehicle accident, in which former Olympian Bruce Jenner drove an Escalade, occurred on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, California, just a few miles from his home. One person was killed, according to ESPN Olympic Sports on February 7. As many as seven people may have been involved.
Sergeant Matt Dunn of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said that the accident occurred near Corral Canyon Road shortly after noon.
Bruce Jenner’s publicist said that Jenner wasn’t injured, but didn’t provide additional details. A witness confirmed to People magazine that Jenner didn’t appear to be hurt.
The sheriff’s department indicated that it was a fatal crash and the highway was going to be closed in both directions for several hours.
A rescue helicopter landed at Pepperdine University, two miles east of the crash, to pick up a victim. It isn’t clear if that was the individual who was declared dead.
“It was a fatal crash at P.C.H., and it’s going to be closed for a few hours,” they said. “Traffic is stopped in both directions.”
The person who was killed was not immediately identified. Neither the deceased’s gender, nor age, was immediately reported either.
A witness on the scene said described what they saw.
“Bruce seemed physically okay after the accident, but he acted extremely concerned about the other people involved. There was one fatality and several other people were injured. Bruce walked around the accident scene without obvious injuries, but his car was damaged. He did not cause the accident and was instead involved in a chain reaction.”
All three vehicles were damaged, with the majority of the damage appearing to be suffered by a white Lexus and black Hummer. Jenner’s Escalade had visible front-end damage. It appeared that Bruce was towing a dune buggy.
Jenner has been in the news on a daily basis, as he is in the process of transitioning to a female. Even his mother was written about, when she indicated that she supported his decision. He’s also working on a docu-series with the E! network about the transition.
Bruce was in another accident in November, 2014, as reported by the Inquisitr. Jenner was driving a $500,000 car when it wrecked during a race, crashing in a ditch. Bruce and his son Burt were in Baja, Mexico, for the annual Baja 1000 off-road race. Neither were injured.
Jenner, 65, first gained fame by winning the gold in the decathlon at the 1976 Montreal Olympics. Starting in 2007, he starred in the reality television series Keeping Up with the Kardashians .
