Sarah Palin is stepping up and speaking out against Hollywood over the controversy surrounding American Sniper . The Alaskan politician was not at all happy about some of the comments made on social media since the release of Bradley Cooper film on Friday.
According to a new report from The Daily Caller , Sarah Palin spoke out after tweets from Michael Moore and Seth Rogen stirred up debate and criticism from veterans. Both of the tweets caused a backlash against both men after the comments hit on Sunday.
My uncle killed by sniper in WW2. We were taught snipers were cowards. Will shoot u in the back. Snipers aren’t heroes. And invaders r worse
— Michael Moore (@MMFlint) January 18, 2015
American Sniper kind of reminds me of the movie that’s showing in the third act of Inglorious Basterds.
— Seth Rogen (@Sethrogen) January 18, 2015
Palin shared her thoughts on the tweets with a statement on her Facebook .
“God bless our troops, especially our snipers. Hollywood leftists: while caressing shiny plastic trophies you exchange among one another while spitting on the graves of freedom fighters who allow you to do what you do, just realize the rest of America knows you’re not fit to shine Chris Kyle’s combat boots. May the epic “American Sniper” bring nothing but blessings to Taya and the children of this true American hero. Thank you Bradley Cooper and Clint Eastwood for respecting the United States Military.”
After the backlash their tweets caused, both Michael Moore and Seth Rogen spoke out about their remarks. The media misunderstood their comments, according to both men.
Michael Moore went to Facebook after the response to tweet caused a firestorm on social media and in the press. He said his comments were not even about the film, and he praised Bradley Cooper’s performance and the editing. However, his apology included a dig at Clint Eastwood and the film.
“Oh… and too bad Clint gets Vietnam and Iraq confused in his storytelling. And that he has his characters calling Iraqis “savages” throughout the film. But there is also anti-war sentiment expressed in the movie. And there’s a touching ending as the main character is remembered after being gunned down by a fellow American vet with PTSD who was given a gun at a gun range back home in Texas — and then used it to kill the man who called himself the ‘America Sniper’.”
Seth Rogen went back to his Twitter to defend his early comment. His tweet angered actor Dean Cain enough that he threatened to kick Rogen’s a** in a tweet.
I just said something “kinda reminded” me of something else. I actually liked American Sniper. It just reminded me of the Tarantino scene.

I wasn’t comparing the two. Big difference between comparing and reminding. Apples remind me of oranges. Can’t compare them, though.

But if you were having a slow news day, you’re welcome for me giving you the opportunity to blow something completely out of proportion. — Seth Rogen (@Sethrogen) January 19, 2015
American Sniper managed to take over the box office and social media this weekend. Sarah Palin decided to jump in and offer her two cents on the commentary being offered on social media. She is not one to back down or keep quiet.
Earlier this month, Palin was at the center of controversy after she shared a photo of her son standing on the family dog while in the kitchen. Trig has Down’s Syndrome, and the photo caused a huge backlash. Many accused Palin of animal cruelty. According to a report by the Inquisitr , she defended the photo after PETA slammed her for posting it.
“Trig’s service dog is a strong trained dog that does really, really love his best buddy Trig, and they put up with each other, and there was no harm at all to this dog. Ironically, PETA made my point, though, that I was making in the post, where I said, you know, life gives you what may be perceived as stumbling blocks, well, use them as stepping stones instead and may 2015, the new year, allow opportunity for that. And then that day I witnessed my own son using as a stumbling block, a stepping stone.”
What do you think of Sarah Palin taking on Hollywood after the American Sniper controvery took over social media? Do you agree with her comments?
