The second half of The Walking Dead Season 5 is less than one month away, and several executive producers and cast members are promising that a lot will happen.
In an exclusive featurette, via the Daily Mirror , Scott M. Gimple slightly described how the final eight episodes of this season will play out.
“The back eight has a very interesting structure, there are some very emotional moments, there are some very crazy moments and there’s a huge change for the situation of these characters.”
Another Walking Dead executive producer, Denise Huth, noted that while the second half of Season 5 may have tough moments for fans to get through, there’s also a lot to take away from it.
“The second half of the season is dark and it’s sad, but when you’re looking at these things and you’re exploring humanity and the choices of why do you choose to live, when it seems like you shouldn’t and yet inevitably it’s that human spirit that keeps you going.”
Cast member Andrew Lincoln added that while he doesn’t know all the things that will happen, what has been filmed and what he’s read makes it seem like The Walking Dead is heading in a different direction.
“The scripts that I’ve read and what we’ve been filming so far, it feels like we’re moving into a new show. It just feels like a new place visually and also storywise. It’s very hard not to be brutalized by this world, but there is a sense in Rick that he’s going to pull people through.”
In a related report from the Inquisitr , several past cast members of The Walking Dead fulfilled a dying fan’s dream at Wizard World New Orleans Comic Con. 17-year-old Arthur Wear, who is battling soft-tissue sarcoma, was able to sit in the front row at the panel; receive an autographed copy of the latest issue in the Walking Dead comic book series; and do a private meet and greet with Jon Bernthal, Andrew J. West, and Scott Wilson. West told reporters that he and the other cast members love doing something like this.
“The reason we do this is for our fans, for people like Arthur. And if it means something to them then that’s all you could ever hope for.”
In other Walking Dead news, the Hollywood Reporter stated back in December that the series was the most talked about on Facebook mainly because of its female viewers. When it comes to television, The Walking Dead made up for more than 14 percent of the television buzz on Facebook, and 60 percent of the people who commented on the series were women.
The Walking Dead returns February 8 at 9 p.m. on AMC.
