Robert Downey Jr. is only part of the fun of seeing Tony Stark on the big screen; everybody knows Iron Man’s tech is the other part. Now, Avengers fans can get a sneak peek at the tech Tony Stark and the rest of the Avengers will be showing off on screen when Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theaters this summer, thanks to a Samsung exhibit at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show.
Over at Droid-Life , they point out that Samsung took some time during its CES press event to point out that the South Korean tech giant had signed a global brand partnership that would see Samsung creating concept technology for Marvel films. That deal will get Samsung’s name out there in connection with what’s bound to be one of the biggest films of the year, Avengers: Age of Ultron .
Samsung is wasting no time in tying its name to the inevitable blockbuster, and its CES floor exhibit had some of the tech concepts they designed for Tony Stark and the rest of the Avengers crew on display.
The tech isn’t real, of course, so it wouldn’t turn on, but it does give a good idea of just the sort of thing we’ll be seeing on screen this summer when Age of Ultron sees release. On hand were some pretty sweet concepts, like a largely transparent tablet computer that Tony Stark will be using, as well as a frankly massive wrist-mounted Avengers computer that’s less in the vein of the smartwatches Samsung already makes and more akin to a full-on smartphone replacement for the wrist.
There were also some Bluetooth earpieces on display, because apparently even the Avengers don’t realize that those things just aren’t cool. More importantly, there was a concept hologram phone on display, one with a fingerprint scanner that we’ll see in action in Age of Ultron .
Just what will Age of Ultron’s smartphones look like? They’ve got two curved panels, which Samsung of course says draws inspiration from the company’s Galaxy Note Edge. They’ve also apparently got flexible displays – technology Samsung actually has developed – and much of the body of the smartphones will be transparent, somewhat similar to what we’ve already seen in Iron Man 2 .
Of course, all of the communications tech will play a small role in Age of Ultron . No one wants to see the Avengers save the world by updating their Twitter feeds, after all. It also seems unlikely that Age of Ultron will have much in the way of Samsung branding in the course of the film, or at least one would hope that that would be the case. Then again, Ultron, the main villain, is a cloud-connected baddie , so maybe the super high-tech gear Samsung designed will turn out to play a crucial role.
