The Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice is heading to prison for fraud. And with her prison stint beginning so soon after the holidays, she decided to spend her time with her family before her 15-month sentence. Giudice’s sentence is weighing heavily on her family, especially her 13-year-old daughter, Gia.

Gia recently tweeted, “can’t sleep, to (sic) much on my mind.”

Earlier in the week, Gia also tweeted a photo of her with Teresa with a “Happy New Year” greeting.

Back in November, Gia talked to Access Hollywood about her family’s predicament.

Gia said in the interview , “My family is probably one of the strongest families I know. So we’ll get through this. It’s gonna be fine. And when it’s over, we’re gonna be better than ever.”

The day after Christmas, Teresa attended a holiday concert featuring Gia’s group, 3KT. She then took her children out for a ski trip in New Jersey. An onlooker tells People that Teresa looked “super stressed” and that she kept “uncomfortably rubbing her neck.”

A source tells Radar Online that Teresa’s younger children are not aware of the reasons why she is going to prison.

According to the source, “Teresa and Joe feel that they are too young to fully comprehend what is going on. Teresa and Joe are telling the girls that she is going away to work.”

Another source adds, “She told them she is going to jail to work on a book about jail.”

Teresa plead guilty to bankruptcy fraud and conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud back in March 2014. Her husband Joe was also sentenced, with Joe beginning his 41-month prison stint after Teresa is released. Joe also has a prior 12-month sentence for failing to file a federal tax return back in 2004.

Teresa will be doing her time at the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, the same correctional facility where Orange is the New Black was set. She will only be allowed 12 visits per month, and she is expected to work on a prison-assigned job from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. It seems Teresa must learn to let go of her lavish lifestyle. According to reports, the maximum allowance for the FCI Danbury store is only $320 per month.

Joe will be allowed to stay with the children while Teresa is in jail, but once he serves his sentence, he will also be facing deportation due to the fact that he is not an American citizen.
