The politically-savvy Margaery Tyrell on Game of Thrones is known for her beauty and grace, but the actress who plays her, Natalie Dormer, is somewhat clumsy. The actress explained her constant struggle with dresses with Yahoo News, along with the real-life political inspirations for Margaery.

Yahoo recently interviewed the 32-year-old English actress about Game of Thrones and working alongside Jennifer Lawrence in the Hunger Games . With Dormer’s extensive experience with royal long dresses, both in Game of Thrones and her role as Anne Boleyn on the Tudors , the interviewer had to ask if she had any good advice for Jennifer Lawrence to avoid tripping over the cumbersome long dresses.

According to Dormer, she doesn’t.

“Oh, my God, I’m so clumsy. I’ve tripped down and up stairs. There’s a scene where Sansa and I, two seasons ago, are walking down cliffs. I fell down those cliffs. And when I was walking up to Joffrey’s bedroom for the crossbow scene, I definitely fell up those stairs nearly into camera. Long skirts are annoying; they get in the way.”

Dormer explained that she was glad to be out of her flowing dresses for a while and into combat gear while playing punk guerrilla fighter Cressida on the Hunger Games .

Of course, Margaery Tyrell is much more than a well-dressed trophy wife. Dormer said that on Game of Thrones she was happy to be playing a strong female character who’s not defined by her man. She described her Thrones character as a public relations master, and mentioned a few real-life inspirations for the character.

“Margaery represents a very modern sort of PR, winning the hearts and minds. I’ve called her Kate Middleton crossed with your First Lady, Michelle Obama. She is a politically savvy woman who is harnessing romantic notions of royals in the populous’ mind.”

Still, Margaery has some particularly ugly work to do on Game of Thrones . As previously reported by the Inquisitr , there were even some scenes that Dormer couldn’t do without revisions.

Then, naturally, Yahoo got around to trying to squeeze a few Game of Thrones spoilers out of Natalie for the fifth season. But she explained that she was just as much in the dark as everyone.

“But I don’t know. See that’s the thing, as far as Thrones is concerned, we’re kept in the dark as much as the audience.”

Still, when it comes to mood, Sophie Turner — who plays Sansa Stark explained that the latest season promises to be much darker.

As for her character’s death, a constant thought for actors on Thrones , Natalie Dormer didn’t think she’d be beheaded again like she was on the Tudors; rather, she hoped for a grander death.

“I’ve had too many sharp things taken to my head recently, so maybe some poisoning or being burnt by a dragon or something would be a better way to go.”
