Norman Reedus Confirms ‘Boondock Saints 3’ Will Happen

Norman Reedus has confirmed that Boondock Saints 3 is going to happen. We already knew it was being planned in August, when the title and plot were revealed here on the Inquisitr , but at the time, we didn’t know if the original stars would be back.

Reedus has come a long way from playing one-half of one of the deadliest duos in action film history in the first Boondock Saints . Since then, he’s played the superhero sidekick Scud in Blade 2 (and ate a lot of donuts in the process), and reprised his role as Murphy McManus in The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day . The end of that film left fans hoping for another sequel in spite of there having been an animated series which supposedly finished the story.

We knew that without Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flannery, The Boondock Saints 3 wouldn’t be the same, and it looked doubtful.

Reedus also gained further fame as the zombie-slaying Daryl Dixon on The Walking Dead , which is still going today. This could make it difficult for him to reprise the role of Murphy McManus once again, but it appears he’s ready to go.

Participating in a Reddit AMA yesterday, Reedus was asked a two part question about whether he and Sean would be back for The Boondock Saints 3: Legion , and whether his costar might make an appearance on The Walking Dead . He confirmed one and showed his excitement for the other in one answer.

“[Hey], good morning. [Yeah] its on, in the works, happening. [Sean] would be great on the show, he’s a real life ninja.”

According to earlier reports, this sequel will involve the public rising up and becoming similar vigilantes. Technically, it could be the equivalent of a riot , and might cause some controversy after recent real life events, though the previous films didn’t appear to pull any punches in the name of being politically correct. In both there was always a third vigilante clearly thrown in for comedic value alongside Norman Reedus and Flannery, and the second time it wasn’t afraid to poke fun at its Hispanic character.

Whatever happens in The Boondock Saints 3: Legion , we now know that the infamous duo of Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flannery will once again play their famous roles as Irish vigilantes with a taste for gunplay and payback. We can only hope that it maintains the same level of disregard for what’s considered decent, and the same dark humor.

That was what made us love the Saints.
