Rapper Azealia Banks and Iggy Azalea, a white Australian hip hop artist, recently engaged in a Twitter war. In the world of hip hop, word wars are frequent, and sometimes it’s hard to tell if the war is real — or just part of the hype. But the Azealia and Iggy war sounds authentic.
During an interview on Hot 97’s Ebro in the Morning , Banks slammed Azalea for staying silent on the issue of two unarmed black men who were killed by police in Ferguson, Missouri, and New York City. She tearfully commented on the state of U.S. affairs, misappropriation of black culture, and Iggy.
“I feel like, in this country, whenever it comes to our things, like black issues or black politics or black music or whatever, there’s always this undercurrent of kinda like a ‘(Expletive) you. … Y’all don’t really own (expletive). Y’all don’t have (expletive).’ That Macklemore album wasn’t better than the Drake record. That Iggy Azalea (expletive) isn’t better than any (expletive) black girl that’s rapping today.”
Iggy responded on Twitter by calling Azealia a bigot.
Enjoy continuing to bang your head against that metaphoric brick wall & Savor this attention. I’m the only way you get ANY.
Now! rant, Make it racial! make it political! Make it whatever but I guarantee it won’t make you likable & THATS why ur crying on the radio.

you created your own unfortunate situation by being a bigot and don’t have the mental capacity to realize yet. Probably never will. — IGGY AZALEA (@IGGYAZALEA) December 19, 2014
Azealia Banks answered Iggy, stating that the tears shed had nothing to do with Iggy but with society and what the media chooses to report.
My tears had absolutely nothing to with you and everything to do with society and the media in general.

Anonymous (yes the hacktivists) weighed in and decided Iggy owes Azealia an apology. The group has threatened Iggy with a scandal worse than Bill Cosby’s, tweeting that if she does not comply with the directive, her career will be ruined.
MESSAGE: @IGGYAZALEA , you have exactly 48 hours from now to release a statement apologizing to @AzealiaBanks and the protesters in NYC…

MESSAGE: @IGGYAZALEA if you do not do so, the memory of you will burn from the public faster than the moment you surfaced. We’re not kidding. — TheAnonMessage (@TheAnonMessage) December 20, 2014
According to Anonymous, Iggy is guilty of a few crimes.
You are guilty of misappropriating black culture, insulting peaceful protesters, and making light of Eric Garner’s death. @IGGYAZALEA — TheAnonMessage (@TheAnonMessage) December 20, 2014
To date, Azealia Banks hasn’t received an apology, and the 24-hour mandate is nearly over.
