Possible Game of Thrones spoilers ahead!
Game of Thrones ‘ Season 5 might be the end for Arya Stark according to a recent Guardian interview with the actress Maisie Williams. Williams, the actress behind Arya, was there to talk about her new drama Cyber Bullies , but that didn’t mean there wasn’t time to drop a few spoilers. She also discussed the effect the fame from Game of Thrones had on her life.
Williams has been playing the part of Arya since she was 12 years old, but that might soon be coming to an end . In a recent interview, the actress said this about what’s in store for Game of Thrones .
“We’re coming to the end now, so I don’t know what they’re going to do next year. It’s the end of Arya, as far as anyone knows.”
Williams has been avoiding the Game of Thrones book series, so as to not get the book story-line confused with the somewhat different TV series. Although she promised George R.R. Martin that she’d read them soon, it may not help her as there are some strong hints that the TV series will continue well past the book narrative.
As for how Arya will “end,” Williams naturally remained vague, giving away just enough to be interesting.
“There’s a big ending for Arya. They’re basically breaking her down, and you get to see behind the cracks.”
As the Inquisitr reported, the next season of Game of Thrones may end up quite a bit darker than in the past (if that’s even possible). Actress Sophie Turner reported that Sansa Stark would also be going through an intense trauma. Season 5 might be a tough watch for certain emotionally attached fans.
However, William’s purpose in the interview wasn’t to dish on the show’s future, but rather to talk about the effect it’s had on her life.
According to the Guardian , Williams initially landed the role of Arya Stark while still a young student. The actress was then faced with the difficulty of juggling a role in a popular TV series with her normal school life. But one of the greatest obstacles for her was dealing with the harassment online.
She said of the abusive online comments, “I had an awful time. It was around the time I was starting to act, and I knew exactly who it was, but it was all anonymous. Just awful things.”
As Game of Thrones blossomed into an international success, the comments were no longer just local envy.
“People just get kicks out of making other people sad,” she explained. She eventually quit some social media platforms, but if Arya is truly coming to an end, Williams may have a new found relief.
