The minor leagues are the minor leagues for a reason. They are supposed to be a stepping-stone to the professional ranks. MLB has the minor leagues, NHL has the AHL, the NFL has college football, and the same can apply for the NBA and their D-League. It’s a preparation pit-stop on the road to a better career as a professional. WWE has NXT and problems are beginning to set in.
Before NXT became a thing, the WWE owned OVW. After OVW was bought out by TNA, Florida Championship Wrestling or FCW became a popular breeding ground for future WWE superstars. Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose began their WWE career in FCW. Look how they turned out.
Since NXT began to act as the minor leagues of WWE, they have become more popular with the TV show. Stars like Charlotte, Adrian Neville, Finn Balor, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens and Hideo Itami are beginning to be come more-noticed than many of the superstars on the WWE roster. Due to that and the recent explosion of success from special NXT shows, the main roster is becoming frustrated .
“There is said to be a lot of frustration on WWE’s main roster after Thursday’s NXT Takeover: R Evolution event. There’s a feeling on the main roster that the NXT Superstars and Divas aren’t making WWE money but the main roster is and the NXT talents aren’t any better in the ring than the main roster stars but the NXT crew is having better matches because they’re getting better opportunities as far as in-ring work and creative goes.”
Earlier this week, the Inquisitr reported that tonight’s pay-per-view, TLC, will be much-better than originally thought. That is due to the overwhelming praise NXT R Evolution got from fans around the world. Some are even calling it the best wrestling show of the year, and possibly, the best of the past decade.
The Rock, a former-WWE champion, is known to be a huge fan of Kevin Owens and the work he does. In fact, Rock tweeted at him, expressing his excitement over the newly-acquired WWE superstar.
Owens, who is only 30-years old, lit up the WWE Network with his incredible debut, and then, his immaculate heel turn at the end of the show. He turned on his best friend, Sami Zayn, as he powerbombed him to the ring apron. To sell the attack, Zayn was taken out on a stretcher.
WWE main event superstars have no right to be frustrated at the NXT talent because they are out-performing them. The NXT guys and girls are hungry, while the WWE superstars seem to be complacent. If they don’t want guys and girls like Balor, Zayn and Charlotte to take their job, perhaps the workload and passion needs to come back. There isn’t more than one Dolph Ziggler or Seth Rollins to ignite a spark. Everyone must do it for themselves, and TLC should give wrestling fans a good indication of how the WWE will react to NXT R Evolution.
