Christopher Lee: 92-Year-Old Actor Releases Heavy Metal Christmas Song ‘Darkest Carols, Faithful Sing’

Sir Christopher Lee may be well known for his iconic acting roles, but he’s going to go down in history for so much more too. The 92-year-old actor has released yet another heavy metal Christmas track, and this year’s song is a great and festive one called “Darkest Carols, Faithful Sing.”

As Metal Injection stated, it’s a playful — and metal version — of “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing.” A teaser of the track was released on YouTube, and in less than 24 hours, it already has over 16,000 views.

Christopher Lee is best known as Saruman the White in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit films, but he has much more to his name as he’s been acting since 1946. Age isn’t stopping him and neither is the sappiness of Christmas, as he just wants the world to know what carols are like in metal form.

“It’s light-hearted, joyful and fun. It’s a band singing on how metal should be played, the effect it has on the band and its listeners.”

According to Blabber Mouth , Lee became the oldest heavy metal artist last year at the age of 91 when he released “Jingle Hell.” It eneded up hitting No. 18 on the Billboard Music Charts. Not only did he take the title of oldest heavy metal artist, but also the oldest performer to have hit the chart.

That honor used to belong to Tony Bennett.

Sir Christopher Lee isn’t letting age or anything else stand in his way as he looks to stay young by doing what he loves to do.

“At my age, the most important thing for me is to keep active by doing things that I truly enjoy. I do not know how long I am going to be around, so every day is a celebration and I want to share it with my fans.”

Back in 2012, Lee had also released covers of “The Little Drummer Boy” and “Silent Night.” Along with last year’s release, he also had a cover of the classic song “My Way” from crooner Frank Sinatra.

His metal Christmas carol releases are becoming a bit of a tradition and making him even more cult-classic popular than he already is.

When lyrics such as “Darkest carols, faithful sing. Glory to the metal kings!” are belted out, how can you not enjoy them?

Christopher Lee’s “Darkest Carols, Faithful Sing” is now available for all to download on Amazon, iTunes, and Google Music. Enjoy it in good health and make sure that it’s a Christmas carol shared when the whole family gathers together.
