In part one of the Art of Wrestling podcast featuring CM Punk and Colt Cabana, a lot was revealed about Punk’s exit from the company. Punk talked about his frustrations with many peopling, including Vince McMahon, Ryback, and Triple H. On many levels, Punk was simply telling his side of the story. Whether the WWE Universe takes that as gospel or complete garbage, Punk’s viewpoint of the situation is out there forever.
Last week, Cabana and Punk also mentioned they will be doing a second podcast to answer fan questions and clear the air even more than they already did. Part two of the Art of Wresting podcast with CM Punk cleared more air as far as the WWE is concerned. Topics in this podcast included Vince McMahon’s apology, the Rock texting him, and the pay not being worth it.
Cabana said the Q&A email crashed quickly, getting 10,000 responses. He said that he expected 300 and was planning to read them all personally. That obviously didn’t happen. CM Punk said that he got fired on his wedding day, his settlement on his birthday, and gave back to the fans on Thanksgiving. He also said it would have happened sooner, but Cabana was in Japan. “I was really antsy to get it out so I could get on with my life,” Punk said.
Punk spoke about fans chanting his name after his absense as well. “It’s weird, I think they do it in two cases. They do it when they see my wife, they seem to chant my name at her. I’ve had a couple people say they think it’s a respect thing to me. But it’s not me, it’s her. Chant her name,” said Punk.
Those are just two of the highlights of the podcast. Punk talked about the McMahon apology, and said that if it was sincere, he could either text him, call him, or show up at his door and apologize. In a way, Punk does have a point. He thought that doing the apology on TV wasn’t genuine. McMahon only wanted a platform to do it for more ratings.
Punk also brought up the Rock because the Rock texted him after the podcast and saw the hate on Twitter. There was nothing bad to report here, but that Punk brought up wanting to main event with the Rock and John Cena at WrestleMania 29 . According to Punk, Rock was cool about it and nothing came from it.
As for returning to the WWE in the future, Punk said it is way too early. He never came out and said that he’ll return in the future, but didn’t say that he won’t. That isn’t meant for speculation, but rather what came out of Punk’s mouth. He also talked about a WrestleMania return. His comment, “That door has closed.”
Punk is done talking about it for now. He got the closure that he wanted and talked about his entire WWE experience. Every fan will continue to feel the way they do, because having an opinion is cool. We’ll continue to track this as it develops because who knows what response will happen next. The WWE Universe still wants to hear what Triple H thinks, as it is probably predictable.
