Things got a little heated on a segment of The View when co-host Rosie O’Donnell aired her feelings on the shooting in Ferguson, Missouri. The topic was brought up because currently the jury is making a decision about officer Darren Wilson. Ahead of the ruling, the Governor has had to call a state of an emergency due to possible protests.
This did not sit well with Rosie O’Donnell and Whoopi Goldberg. O’Donnell suggested that someone already knew what kind of verdict this case would get, while Goldberg said, “Don’t put out that you think bad stuff is going to happen because that’s like an encouragement.”
Nicolle Wallace played the devil’s advocate by posing a question about both O’Donnell and Goldberg’s comments about the Ferguson debate. “And what is the injustice? You’re saying that if he isn’t indicted, it’s a gross injustice? You weren’t in the grand jury room.”
Rosie responded, “But I as an American feel it’s very wrong to shoot unarmed teenagers six times, once in the head. I’m sick of it. Black boys are like the endangered species in America. They’re killed at an absurd rate and nobody seems to care enough.”
Goldberg reminded the viewers that race shouldn’t be an issue and instead Americans should take issue with the action.
“What has to happen is, we need to remind everybody: ‘These are your sons. Forget the color. Because it could be you tomorrow. Injustice doesn’t care what color you are.’”
Here’s what a few people thought of the discussion today.
s/o to @Rosie for standing her ground w/ ferguson today on the view. A lot of people try to water down the issue and she spoke truth!
