Kelly Osbourne remains loyal to Dancing with the Stars, crediting the show for boosting her self-confidence and helping her lose 70 pounds. But before she pirouetted on the ballroom floor, Osbourne shared that she struggled for years with demons ranging from drugs to depression to an unhealthy diet, revealed the Hollywood Reporter .
Recalling her lowest point, Kelly admitted that she considered the possibility of taking too many drugs.
“It’s almost five years ago to the day that I had my extremely rude awakening, when I realized I didn’t want to die and I was worth something and that you only live once, so you might as well give it go.
“I was living in L.A. — I got moved back from London because I was misbehaving very badly, and the only relationship I had was with my pizza delivery man and my drug dealer. I remember trying to take more drugs so that I wouldn’t wake up the next day, and when I realized what I had done, I just thought to myself — can I swear? — ‘What the f— are you doing?”
Osbourne believes that her turning point came when she recognized the positive elements in her life and sought to focus on gratitude.
“I am so lucky to have the life that I have, and I’m just pi**ing it away because I couldn’t figure out a way to like myself,” she now recalls thinking.
And that’s when Kelly received the invitation from Dancing with the Stars . Overweight and depressed but in need of money, Osbourne accepted. And the result was a transformation of her mind, body, and spirit, which was visible on the dance floor, as shown below.

Kelly lost 42 pounds initially and won third place with her partner Louis van Amstel. But before she danced her way to a new level of self-confidence, Osbourne admits it was difficult to even look at her reflection.
“I couldn’t even look at myself in a mirror, and then I did ‘Dancing With the Stars,’ where I was forced to look at myself every single day for hours upon hours.”
Now one of the co-hosts of Fashion Police , Osbourne has lost a total of 70 pounds, according to Cambio . She exercises regularly and even posts photos of herself working out on her Instagram account. And as a fashionista, Kelly jokes about her fondness for chic gym attire.
“Yes I am that sad person that wears head to toe matching gym outfits!” she wrote.
As for the diet that helped her lose weight, Osbourne turned to her dance partner, who recommended a high protein, low-carb diet , she told Shape magazine.
“He made me eat turkey burgers and salads and explained to me that a high-protein, low-carb diet would keep me energized. Then I started losing weight and realized, ‘Oh, it’s true what they say: Diet and exercise really work!”
Dr. Mehmet Oz also recommends a high protein, low-carb diet for weight loss , as the Inquisitr reported. He emphasizes timing your protein intake so that you stay full and curb cravings throughout the day.
