Taylor Swift has created a publicity perfect storm for her new 1989 album, and the result is the biggest record debut since 2002. In an electronic world where some musicians have feared that physical albums are dead, Taylor proved them wrong by ringing up more than half of her sales in physical copies rather than digital. And at 24, Swift is gracious in explaining she transformed 1989 into platinum power in a Yahoo! Music interview.
Don’t underestimate the power of a carefully crafted publicity campaign, endless patience for achieving perfection, and the knowledge of how to include her biggest fans in her secret plans, says Taylor. She praises her fans for their loyalty. And Swift works hard to maintain that bond, from reading their blogs to devoting hours on Twitter to respond to them.
Swift talked with Ellen DeGeneres on the day that 1989 dropped about her plans and future dreams, overflowing with vitality and enthusiasm.
How does she maintain that high level of energy? Credit Taylor’s diet dedication and focused fitness, according to PopSugar .
Swift is literally swift, running regularly to stay in shape for her vigorous concerts.
“For me, working out is not so I can get skinny. It’s so that I’m not panting on stage,” she clarified.
Taylor also goes to the gym, and somehow manages to emerge looking as if she just spent an hour with her makeup team.
“Everyone looks like that when they leave the gym!” she joked with Seth Meyers.
Her diet revolves around old-fashioned portion control. Swift nibbles on salads, spoons up yogurts and eats an occasional sandwich Monday through Friday. She saves weekends to satisfy her cravings, which include baked goodies and burgers.
As a result of that healthy lifestyle, Taylor stayed on target for implementing her public relations campaign, traveling around the world from Japan to Los Angeles to talk shows, and public appearances to sing and serenade her fans.
With regard to the controversy over removing her music from Spotify, Taylor emphasized that she views her music as an art form, and that giving it away free felt wrong.
“It didn’t feel right to me. I felt like I was saying to my fans, ‘If you create music someday, if you create a painting someday, someone can just walk into a museum, take it off the wall, rip off a corner off it, and it’s theirs now and they don’t have to pay for it.’ I didn’t like the perception that it was putting forth. And so I decided to change the way I was doing things.”
Part of that change meant rewarding and recognizing her biggest fans by bringing them into her publicity plans, even soliciting their input in what she termed “Secret Sessions.” Swift credits middle-of-the-night inspirations for that decision.
“They were all ideas that hit me in the middle of the day or in the middle of the night, or in the middle of listening to a new song I’d recorded for 1989 . I’d just get these ideas and think, ‘What if we did these for the secret society living room sessions? Can we do that? Yeah, of course we can do that.’”
But it’s not all work and worry for Taylor Swift , as the Inquisitr reported. She has the purr-fect relationship with her cats. Her fur babies frequently are featured on Twitter, and Taylor even did a diet Coke campaign devoted to her favorite things in life.
Swift recently adopted a new cat, which she shared with Ellen DeGeneres. Watch below for her meow-worthy revelations.
