Happy birthday, Kris Jenner! The famous momager-matriarch of the Kardashian family celebrated her 59th birthday one day early by visiting The Talk on Nov. 4 to reflect on everything from her first divorce to her split with Bruce Jenner to tactics for hiding the effects of aging. Jenner told the co-hosts that she wants to serve as a positive role model to others as they age, reported E News .
“You know what, I’m so blessed to wake up every morning, feel good, feel strong. I want to embrace that and just be an example to people that are my age that you can look good and feel good at any age. And it’s sometimes a mental thing.”
But Kris emphasized that she doesn’t want people to think she has an easy life. Jenner reflected on her first divorce, revealing the challenges that she experienced for several years after ending her marriage with Robert Kardashian.
Kris stated that she tried to protect her children.
“I went through a divorce a long time ago with Robert Kardashian and it was not fun. It was so scary and I was so young and I had four kids and it was… and then we ended up being best friends. But there was a period of a couple of years in there where it was really, you know, ugly and hard. You didn’t want the kids to take sides.”
Now Kris is going through another split after 22 years of marriage to Bruce Jenner. She carefully refrained from dissecting the reasons for that dissolution and turned to dishing lightly on the positive.
” Divorce is a decision. It’s not a good decision but we’re happier living apart than we were together. Everybody feels it. But anything can happen. And the good in my life so outweighs the bad. You can’t get mad at [life too much when] another grandchild is coming. So it’s such joy and we’re all happy and looking forward.”
Part of the “bad” that Kris has faced this year has come from her new highly anticipated cookbook’s reviews. She’s been making the rounds of talk shows to publicize it, as well as the book stores, sharing inside-the-family favorites as shown below.
Some of the recipes are designed to provide slimming options, such as salsa. As the Inquisitr reported, Kris Jenner follows a low-carb diet. After having six children, she lost 70 pounds. Jenner used the high-fat, low-carb, ketogenic Atkins diet for part of her weight loss.
“I love the Atkins diet. I feel better if I eat less and eat cleaner,” she told New You magazine.
But the cookbook, entitled In The Kitchen With Kris: A Kollection of Kardashian-Jenner Family Favorites , is getting slammed by reviewers for its unintentionally hilariously bad writing and inedible recipes, reported Eater .
If you’re seeking comfort food, for example, Kris provides you with two recipes. And they won’t take long to make, because one is for plain Cream of Wheat and the other is for clarified butter.
Jenner earnestly writes that she is advocating budget-friendly ingredients. Such as….truffle butter?
Reviewers on Amazon provided feedback that ranged from roars to rants…and no raves.
“Eat the book itself, it will taste better than the recipes within.”
“Save your money. Buy a real cookbook written by someone who actually cooks,” advised another.
“Surely this is a joke!” theorized one reviewer. “I suspect the only time she’s been in the kitchen is to kvetch to the caterer and get more vodka!”
Many reviewers complained that the recipes were as bland as library paste.
“The recipes in here are bland and tasteless…I made the macaroni and cheese, and you would think with all the varieties of cheese it would be flavorful, but instead I got very expensive, inedible mess of oily noodles.”
