WWE: Randy Orton To Miss ‘Monday Night RAW’ And ‘Smackdown’ For Weeks, Injury Rumors Persist

Randy Orton is expected to miss both WWE Monday Night RAW and Smackdown , although the exact timing has not been announced. Rumors of Orton’s injury also continue to persist although there has not been an official update in that regard.

In a related report by the Inquisitr , when the Viper lost to the face of the WWE at Hell In A Cell 2014 it pretty much confirmed that Brock Lesnar Vs. John Cena will take place again , but some believe it’s possible that Randy Orton’s injury played a role in the decision to have one of the biggest WWE superstars push off his shot at the Beast. Orton must have been feeling a little bit insulted by the result since he took to Twitter to insult John Cena for his merchandise .

All we know about Randy Orton’s injury is that he sustained it during a main event at Monday Night RAW . Orton reportedly told a WWE doctor that he had a ruptured disc in his spine and, if that rumor is true, then you know it can’t help when Cena threw him into a table the other night. It’s said that Vince McMahon and Triple H might be keeping Orton active only because there are so many other WWE superstars like Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns are who are missing in action due to their own more serious injuries.

Fortunately, Randy Orton is about to get a vacation of sorts. Orton is scheduled to be in a WWE Studios sequel called Condemned 2: Desert Prey , which will be filming in New Mexico during the end of 2014. According to Wrestling Inc. , “there’s no date confirmed for filming yet but it’s expected to keep Orton off TV for a few weeks.” Since there’s only eight weeks left in 2014, that means Orton will likely be missing from Monday Night RAW and Smackdown sometime very soon.

According to Variety , the film “follows a former bounty hunter who finds himself on the run as part of a revamped Condemned tournament, in which convicts are forced to fight each other to the death as part of a game that’s broadcast to the public.”

“We are excited to be reteaming with the WWE on The Condemned 2 , after such a positive experience on the original film,” said Lionsgate co-chief operating officer and motion picture group president Steve Beeks. “The combination of their brand marketing capabilities, creativity and deep lineup of dynamic onscreen talent result in a powerful partnership.”

Of course, since this is a movie we’re talking about, Randy Orton’s injury should have some time to heal since any stunts are unlikely to be as bad as anything the WWE throws at him on a weekly basis. Filming could potentially extend into January, but you just know the WWE wouldn’t have one of their WWE superstars miss Royal Rumble 2015 .
