I never watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but apparently some guy named Joss Whedon was involved with it and has like, some kind of weird silent siren call for geeks everywhere so if he so much as sneezes on a blank sheet of paper, the entire internet goes apoplectic with glee.
Such a Whedon frenzy is occurring right now with news of a Secret Whedon Project sure to enthrall fanboys and girls the world over. Buzz began when details were leaked on the web Saturday, and apparently Whedon has already wrapped production on the project. So what is it?
Apparently, the Secret Whedon Project is actually a film adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, and the entire thing was astonishingly planned, organized, written, filmed and wrapped away from the prying eyes of the geek-god’s slavering fan base. Only late Saturday did people involved in the project, including Serenity ‘s Sean Maher and everything’s Nathan Fillion, begin buzzing about the new movie. Maher tweeted:
“Surprise! We just wrapped today… I promise you it’s the real deal and we’re VERY excited about it!”
To his more than one million Twitter followers, Fillion joked :
“Oh, it’s real. Very. Very. Real. muchadothemovie.com… Alright, here’s everything I know about muchadothemovie.com — Server error.”
According to TheWrap.com , the indie film doesn’t have distribution yet, and no dates have been bandied about for release- likely much to the consternation of rabid Whedon fans. No information has been posted at the site other than the cryptic pic above as well as an initial list of cast.
