Cristiano Ronaldo Reacts To Manchester United Banner Asking Him To ‘Come Home’

Cristiano Ronaldo was spotted responding to Manchester United fans’ banner asking the Portuguese forward to return to Old Trafford.

During Real Madrid’s 2-0 victory over Villarreal on Saturday a plane carrying a message that read “Come Home Ronaldo — United Reel” was orchestrated by United supporters as they look to encourage Louis Van Gaal to buy Ronaldo. You can check out Ronaldo’s reaction to the message below.

What’s actually quite startling is that Ronaldo seems to instantly dismiss the banner. Ronaldo came across as calm and collected when he saw the message, and he quickly returned to the game. It clearly didn’t affect his focus, as Ronaldo went on to score yet another goal for Madrid, which means that he has now notched eight goals in the past seven days.

Earlier this week, Oli Grandidge , who founded the group that paid the hefty sum of $5,000 for the banner, said of the message, “We have active supporters on every continent of the world and we are all united by our love for Cristiano both as a football player and as a person. We won’t stop until we bring Ronaldo home. Members from all over the world have donated their own money and resources to fund a mid-game message, flown by plane, in a bid to demonstrate to Cristiano Ronaldo how much the United faithful still love and support him.”

Ronaldo moved to Madrid from United back in 2009 after six years at Old Trafford. During his time in England, Ronaldo not only won the 2008 Ballon d’Or, he also led United to three Premier League titles, as well as the 2008 European Cup. However, over the last few weeks, Ronaldo has been heavily linked to a move back to United, as he has apparently become very upset at the Bernabeu thanks to the sales of both Angel Di Maria and Mesut Ozil over the past two summers.

Despite these claims though, Ronaldo previously made it clear that he was still happy at Madrid.

“It’s nothing important, what’s important is Madrid,” he explained. “On a personal level, things are going well and I want to help this shirt. I don’t see a need to talk about things outside the club. It’s all speculation, speaking about my future… My future is Madrid. I’m happy. The season is going well and I’m not talking about my future, it doesn’t make sense.”
