Recent talks of Cristiano Ronaldo making a shock move back to Manchester United have been dismissed by the Real Madrid star forward. Manchester United had high hopes of reuniting with the Portuguese talisman after securing high profile players such as Ángel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao. However, Ronaldo expressed that he has no intention of leaving Real Madrid any time soon. His comments come after a recent article from The Daily Star
“It’s nothing important, what’s important is Madrid. On a personal level, things are going well and I want to help this shirt. I don’t see a need to talk about things outside the club.
“It’s all speculation, speaking about my future… My future is Madrid. I’m happy. The season is going well and I’m not talking about my future, it doesn’t make sense.”
The rumor mills churned when Ronaldo spoke of his dissatisfaction of the sale Di Maria to Manchester United. Cristiano Ronaldo made it clear that he would have “done things differently” when he was asked about the transfer of Di Maria.
Yesterday, Cristiano Ronaldo netted four times to recorded Madrid’s second successive league victory with a comfortable win at home to Elche. Ronaldo is well on his way of becoming Real Madrid’s all-time leading goal scorer. He has netted 25 hat-tricks at Real and is closing in on Alfredo Di Stefano’s club-record of 28. Ronaldo has now scored seven goals in four days after grabbing a hat-trick in Saturday’s 8-2 win over Deportivo.
At the moment, Cristiano Ronaldo sits at 260 goals in fourth with goal scoring legend Raúl sitting atop the pile with 323 goals. In between the pair, former strikers Alfred Di Stefano and Santillana are ranked second and third, respectively.
With the Portuguese forward averaging well above 30 goals a season, Ronaldo could easily break Raúl’s record if he decides to see out of his contract in Madrid. While recently declaring his loyalty to Real Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo will still attract the attention of top clubs such as Manchester United and Paris Saint Germaine.
However, without Champions League football, Manchester United will be hampered in the pursuit of Cristiano Ronaldo, and embarrassing defeats away to Leicester City has not help the task of returning to the elite competition.
A move to Manchester United may not materialize for now, what with the lack of Champions League football at Old Trafford and Cristiano Ronaldo’s pursuit of personal glory at Real Madrid.
