Apple’s much-anticipated press event finally puts an end to the iPhone 6 rumors. For weeks, speculation about the newest iPhone’s release date, price and pre-order information has created a buzz online, with Apple fans waiting impatiently to get their hands on what’s rumored to be a bigger and better iPhone.
While you wait for the iPhone 6 reveal to start live on Apple.com at 1 p.m. ET on September 9, here is the latest unconfirmed information about Apple’s newest baby. Or should we say babies, because it looks like two phones will be revealed on Tuesday. If the gossip is true, one will have a 4.7-inch screen and the pricier model will have a 5.5-inch screen, both a big step up from last year’s iPhone 5S’ 4-inch display. A leaked video from China (above) may be the first authentic look at the bigger iPhone , with BGR stating that it could the real deal.
“In the videos, we can clearly see what appears to be a working 4.7-inch iPhone 6 model, and demonstrations of Apple’s Touch ID fingerprint scanner and the company’s new Health app are included.”
The Inquisitr previously reported that the price of the iPhone 6 could be as high as $800 without a contract and $299 with a contract. ZD Net speculates that the smaller, 4.7 inch model will be priced more affordably at $199 with contract, but the final word will come on Tuesday when the powers-that-be at Apple reveal the real price.
When will the iPhone 6 be released? Yahoo Tech states that Apple typically starts selling new iPhones approximately 10 days after they formally announce a new phone. That would make the expected release date of the iPhone 6 around September 19, but pre-orders usually start shortly after the press event.
Yahoo’s guess sounds spot-on based on what has happened over the past two years. In 2013, Apple’s press conference for the iPhone 5S and 5C was held on September 10. Pre-orders started three days later, and both models launched in stores on September 20, 10 days after the event. The timing of the 2012 release was about the same; the iPhone 5 unveiling took place on September 12 and pre-orders started two days later. The phone shipped out on September 21 of that year in the U.S. and eight other countries.
The press event starts at 1 p.m. in San Francisco, with many tech blogs, including Gizmodo and C-Net , live-blogging the event for those who don’t want to miss a single detail about what everyone assumes will be the new iPhone 6 . The press event will also live stream on Apple.com on Tuesday.
Will you be purchasing a new iPhone 6 if Apple’s big reveal lives up to all the hype on Tuesday?
