If you’re familiar with the social media outlet Twitter, you’ve probably been on the receiving end of mean tweets yourself. Just about everybody is at some point. That’s just the nature of Twitter — and of the internet, for that matter. It brings out the mean in people.

That’s why the Mean Tweets series featured on the late night ABC talk show hosted by comedian Jimmy Kimmel is always popular, garnering millions of views when the video go up on YouTube.

And with football season upon us, Kimmel is here to show that even the big, tough men who play in the NFL have feelings too — and, yes, they can even get their feelings hurt. Hence the new NFL Edition of Mean Tweets .

You don’t have to be a football fan to appreciate how these guys must feel when they read these mean tweets about themselves. But at least they have a sense of humor about it. Well, most of them do, anyway.

Actually, the most disheartening thing about these mean tweets is not just how people can be this mean, but also how people can have so little mastery of the English language. While the people who posted these tweets are mean, it seems like a lot of them are also pretty stupid.

But you really have to wonder why someone would want ESPN sideline reporter Erin Andrews to get hit in the head with a ball.

But as mean as they are, it’s always funny to hear me tweets read aloud — by the very people who the mean tweeters target.
