Jennifer Lawrence is pretty horrified, and understandably so, after dozens of photos of the Oscar-winning actress surfaced online yesterday.
Lawrence wasn’t the only celeb to be exposed as a number of other A-list stars fell subject to the wicked hacking leak. Kate Upton and Teresa Palmer were among literally dozens of big names to be exposed by the hackers.
According to a spokesperson for Lawrence, the photos are 100 percent authentic, making the sharing of the images a “flagrant violation of privacy.”
The spokesperson said in a statement: “The authorities have been contacted and will prosecute anyone who posts the stolen photos of Jennifer Lawrence.”
The controversial photos, which show Lawrence and other celebs in various stages of nakedness, were apparently accessed via the iCloud accounts of the celebrities targeted and then posted on an image sharing website called 4chan.
CNN reported that the hacker who pulled the tasteless and invasive stunt is of course still at large and no one has any good idea what his name of location might be.
Soon after the images were posted, the name Jennifer Lawrence began trending and many social media users rallied in support of Lawrence, using the hashtag: #JenniferLawrenceWeSupportYou
And, to make matters worse, the hacker claims that he is in possession of up to 60 selfies of Lawrence, posing in various compromising positions, but she is not the only star to fall victim.
According to the hacker, Ariana Grande, Kate Upton, Kirsten Dunst, Teresa Palmer, Kim Kardashian, Hilary Duff, Gabi Greko and Victoria Justice are all in danger of being exposed as well.
Another actress who was targeted, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, immediately denounced the stunt via Twitter, posting: “To those of you looking at photos I took with my husband years ago in the privacy of our home, hope you feel great about yourselves.”
Many celebrities have fired back saying that the nude images of them are fake including Ariana Grande who told BuzzFeed that the images of her are “completely fake.”
In the past, the relevant authorities have arrested hackers (when they could trace them) who pulled similar stunts to this one. A while back, for example, Christopher Chaney was arrested by Florida Police over pictures of Scarlett Johansson and Mila Kunis that he obtained by hacking their emails.
SBS reported today that Jennifer Lawrence intends to take legal action against the unscrupulous hacker who exposed her, just as soon as authorities are able to catch up with him.
