WWE is currently experiencing some of the most interesting times of its history. At WrestleMania 30 , Daniel Bryan shocked the world and won the WWE World Heavyweight championship. Also at the grand event, Brock Lesnar conquered the Undertaker’s undefeated streak at WrestleMania .
There is a new WWE corporate logo, the Shield is dominating the WWE individually, AJ Lee returned to the company and won the Divas title, CM Punk is still gone, and now Lesnar is the WWE champion. Talk about a new era for professional wrestling happening right now; this is different for long-time WWE fans.
To extend the craziness for a moment, Bryan’s injury is currently in the healing process. While he is dealing with grueling hours of physical therapy, Bryan sat down with Brian Fritz to discuss a potential match with Lesnar at a future pay-per-view.
“Brock Lesnar is, right now, out of all the WWE superstars currently active, Brock Lesnar is the one that I want. That’s the match that I want. I think that match would be something different than the WWE Universe has ever seen. So, yeah, that’s the match that I’m gunning for.”
Nobody knows the true date for Bryan’s return after a rumored Tommy John surgery will take place. For those that are familiar with the operation, take a glimpse at the world of baseball, and there you will find information on a multitude of injured shoulders from throwing too hard, too much. It is commonly a pitcher’s injury, but now it found its way to the professional wrestling ring.
Cageside Seats , a blog associated with SB Nation , updated the world on Bryan and Barrett’s status for their imminent returns.
As far as Daniel Bryan goes, I have no idea. I asked what this means, is he going to be wrestling and [the answer] was “the advertising is going to change.” Then I was told, well the advertising is going to change if it needs to change. – Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter
Meltzer is the no.1 source for wrestling news. Normally, if he doesn’t know the inside scoop, then news simply isn’t out yet. As for a Bryan vs. Lesnar match, WWE must be very careful with how it is booked, if it in fact comes true. Right now, Brock Lesnar is being booked as a beast that is literally unstoppable. If John Cena couldn’t stop the monster from Minnesota, then nobody can.
Bryan pulled off “miracles” against Triple H, Randy Orton, and Batista, but Lesnar is a whole different animal. It will also depend where the WWE is with Roman Reigns. The chance may come that Reigns just isn’t getting it done. Insert Bryan, and all of WWE’s problems will be solved. Then again, there’s the possibility that Punk comes back. His return is still imminent at this time.
