Publicly criticizing the WWE, Dave Batista is calling out the management and creative team for allowing Brock Lesnar to beat the Undertaker only to waltz out the door as a part time WWE superstar.
In a related report by The Inquisitr , Batista really does not have to worry too much about what he says about the WWE management at this point because he’s already planning his wrestling retirement. The success of Guardians of the Galaxy probably plays a major factor, although the Animal does want to go out with a bang because he’s desiring his final match to be Dave Batista VS Triple H .
Speaking to the Huffington Post , Batista was asked what he thought about Undertaker’s streak being broken, and the response was brutally honest:
“It sucked! Honestly, I thought it sucked. I haven’t really talked much about it but I think it was a bad decision, a horrible decision. I don’t have any say in the matter but to me, watching as a fan, it made me sick. Brock Lesnar beating him didn’t seem to work and it really wasn’t good that Brock left the day after. I just don’t see how that made sense at all. I don’t think anyone wanted to see the streak broken and it just didn’t make sense to me.”
You would think this is the pot calling the kettle black since Batista himself disappeared for years, only to come back and suddenly win Royal Rumble 2014. The main difference is that Batista continued to wrestle in regular shows until his duties with marketing Guardians of the Galaxy called him away from the ring. It’s possible Batista may have even stayed around longer if the alleged WWE contract disputes did not rear their ugly head.
But Batista is supposedly not alone in criticizing Brock Lesnar for his part time status . It’s claimed many of the other full time wrestlers are critical of Lesnar since he essentially just shows up every once in a while, and yet may end being handed the title for WWE World Heavyweight Championship, assuming he beats John Cena at SummerSlam 2014. Heck, it could be argued Paul Heyman does a good chunk of the job:
To some WWE fans, Lesnar’s chance at the title is like a slap to the face considering the well-liked Daniel Bryan had his title taken away because Triple H and Stephanie, yet again, played their hated role well by demanding Bryan return within a certain time frame from his injury. Yet Lesnar has a shot at the title despite only wrestling when he desires?
The only consolation that some WWE fans may have is that it seems doubtful Lesnar would be given the WWE title since it would make it a little bit difficult for other wrestlers to win back the title. After all, according to the Pro Fight Database , Brock Lesnar’s WWE career since 2012 has only included seven matches. Lesnar’s role is to make the WWE money by getting people to pay for major PPV matches and sign up for the WWE Network, not to generate fan animosity by holding on to the belt for months on end until the next major PPV rolls around.
Do you agree with Dave Batista’s opinion about Brock Lesnar? Do you think the WWE will hand Lesnar the title at SummerSlam 2014?
