According to Nancy Pelosi, Qatar has been telling her that Hamas is a “humanitarian organization” even though U.S. State Department continues to list Hamas as a terrorist organization. But why did Pelosi even bring this up in the first place?
In a related report by The Inquisitr , Pelosi is no stranger to making controversial statements and she claims illegal immigrant children are like “baby Jesus” or “Moses,” although, in this case, even the Catholic church may agree with her on immigration reform since Pope Francis called the U.S. “racist and xenophobic” toward illegal aliens.
The website for the State Department also lists why Hamas is designated as terrorists:
“Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTOs) are foreign organizations that are designated by the Secretary of State in accordance with section 219 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), as amended. FTO designations play a critical role in our fight against terrorism and are an effective means of curtailing support for terrorist activities and pressuring groups to get out of the terrorism business.”
Pelosi made the comments while speaking to CBS, and she dropped the tidbit about Hamas not being a terrorist organization after discussing how “Palestinians who live in my district” have been talking about how the conflict may cause harm to families.
She also said :
“[T]his has to be something where we try to have the two-state solution, that we have to support…(Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud) Abbas and his role as a leader there. We have to support Iron Dome to protect the Israelis from the missiles. We have to support the Palestinians and what they need. And we have to confer with the Qataris, who have told me over and over again that Hamas is a humanitarian organization, maybe they could use their influence to–“
That’s when Face The Nation’s Crowley interrupted her to say, “The U.S. thinks they’re a terrorist organization though, correct? Do you?”
When Pelosi responded, she did not directly say yes, but made a noise that indicated an affirmative answer. So Pelosi’s spokesman Drew Hammill clarified what she meant to say:
“She also believes that engaging the Qataris, who refer to Hamas as a humanitarian organization and fund such needs, would put additional pressure on Hamas to stop the rockets attacks and destroy all tunnels.”
As the Washington Examiner notes, the foreign policy strategy adopted by the Obama administration ” has lately been seeking Qatar’s help in trying to negotiate a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel, but it’s hard to see how Doha can offer much assistance, since the record shows it’s part of the problem.”
What do you think about Nancy Pelosi saying the United States should work with the Qataris even though they supply Hamas with hundreds of millions of dollars to buy weapons and build terror tunnels, and they refuse to acknowledge Hamas as a terrorist organization advocating genocidal Jew hatred?
