The first teaser poster for Jurassic World was released at San Diego Comic-Con, giving fans a first look at the next installment in the Jurassic Park franchise.

The Jurassic World poster, which was made available to a few lucky Comic-Con attendees, was created by artist Mark Englert. It depicts a velociraptor standing astride an overturned vehicle, while a building is being erected in the far distance. A helicopter carries a caged triceratops toward the building, hinting that the dinosaur, which played a small role in the first film, may appear in Jurassic World .

The film reportedly takes place on Isla Nublar, a fact that Englert was excited to explore in the image, according to his blog :

“After milling over what I’d like to see as a fan, I decided to try and incorporate elements from the previous movies and try to connect how they have led up to the newest story in the series. Jurassic World takes place back on Isla Nublar, where the park from the first movie failed before it even opened. I wanted to subtly establish the setting, the theme of nature overtaking technology and that a new park with a new story was being built on what had come before… I also just wanted a cool shot of a Raptor.”

Although Jurassic World wasn’t the subject of a panel at Comic-Con, Englert’s poster wasn’t the only promo for the film that appeared in San Diego. As Dread Central relates, several vehicles were on hand, emblazoned with the film’s logo on their doors. The six-wheeled off-road trucks were made by Mercedes and carry license plates that reference Isla Nublar, further reinforcing the setting of Jurassic World .

The highly anticipated film was written by Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly, and picks up the Jurassic Park story 22 years after the first film. As The Inquisitr has previously reported, Vincent D’Onofrio, Chris Pratt, and Bryce Dallas Howard star in the film, which is largely abandoning CGI in favor of animatronics to bring the series’ iconic dinosaurs to life.

Only 500 of the Jurassic World teaser posters were handed out to fans at Comic-Con, according to Englert. A variant version, with different coloring and slightly altered details, will be distributed online, although only 100 of them are available. While he admitted that he didn’t know exactly how the variant prints would be released, Englert pointed out that “I do assume you will want to be following @JurassicPark on Twitter.”
