Pizza Hut has reportedly created a pretty epic and awe-inspiring TMNT -inspired vehicle for this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.
The annual convention features a ton of companies promoting their respective wares. In order to stand out from the crowd, you really have to put together something truly remarkable and wholly memorable. If all goes according to Pizza Hut’s master plan, then attendees will have plenty to gab about when they roll out their secret weapon.
Time reports that the masterminds at Pizza Hut have designed a bizarre pizza-slinging vehicle inspired by the upcoming Michael Bay-produced reboot. Since the aforementioned superheroes absolutely love downing pizza, the company decided to construct a massive four-wheeled machine that is capable of shooting pies as it barrels down the road.
The TMNT pizza cannon was reportedly inspired by this toy:
Alas, the Pizza Hut contraption won’t actually fire real pizzas. Instead, the cannon uses fake Pizza Hut Cheesy Bites as ammunition. However, there is good news: Fans who attend San Diego Comic-Con 2014 will have an opportunity to actually pull the trigger themselves. The perpetual child in this writer’s soul is having a nostalgia fit right now.
Pizza Hut’s Jared Drinkwater said:
“Building the Pizza Thrower as part of our partnership with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film is one of the coolest things we’ve seen in a while. There’s no better place to bring technology of this scale to life than at Comic-Con. We know that convention goers are going to love taking down Shredder, sampling Cheesy Bites Pizza and will have a lot of fun with both of our brands throughout the convention.”
The folks at Syyn Labs are responsible for crafting the two-ton Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles truck for Pizza Hut. According to the vehicle’s specs, the cannon is capable of taking down enemies who are no more than 30 feet away. If you need to make a quick getaway, the machine is capable of speeds up to 75 mph.
In case you don’t remember or weren’t born during the early 90s, Pizza Hut and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have some history together. The restaurant and the superheroes previously teamed up for a very peculiar musical project called Coming Out of Their Shells . Instead of fighting crime, the Turtles wielded various musical instruments and cranked out rock songs. It’s as strange as it sounds on paper.
Curious parties can investigate the album in its entirety below.
