Bizarre Twist In Case Of Dad Whose Penis Was Hacked Off In Horrific ‘Attack’

A bizarre twist this week in the case of a British man whose penis was hacked off in what was initially called a love-triangle revenge attack back in March. Kelvin “Kelly” Hewitt was found bleeding with what was described as “severe injuries to his groin” on March 13, off the A66 Highway in the northeast England town of Middlesborough.

But police now say they have closed the case even though they have no suspect. A 22-year-old man who was arrested in connection with the horrifying incident was released with no charges. Hewitt was at first in such extreme pain that he could not speak, and was placed in an induced coma.

But even as the 40-year-old builder and dad of seven recovered and was discharged from the hospital, he has not been able to give police a coherent account of the events that led up to the violent loss of his penis, according to a report in Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper.

And Hewitt never filed a complaint with the police about the assault.

“The investigation is now complete and we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident,” said a statement by the Cleveland Police, the investigating agency. “A complaint regarding the incident was never received by Cleveland Police.”

Hewitt was living in a camp for itinerant workers at the time of the attack. His seven children have three different mothers, and the initial belief at the time of the attacks was that the jealous boyfriend of a woman with whom Hewitt had sexual relations was responsible for the grisly penis mutilation.

But Hewitt’s family and friends originally said that the attack must have been a case of mistaken identity .

“We cannot believe what has happened to him,” said Christine McLachlan, grandmother to four of Hewitt’s children, in March. “I think it must have been a mistake, we just cannot think how anyone could to this to him.

“He is such a really, really good lad. It is absolutely shocking what he has been through, just awful. We can’t explain it.”

But when Hewitt, who is still recovering from his wound, was asked about his case by a Mirror reporter, he wouldn’t say anything.

Why Hewitt would fail to file any sort of criminal complaint with police, and why investigators now say they are done with his case, remains as much of a mystery as the identity of whoever hacked off Kelly Hewitt’s penis more than four months ago.
