Murrieta Protesters Deemed Terrorists By Amnesty Group Calling On DOJ To Prosecute

The Department of Justice and the FBI have been asked to investigate and prosecute the Murrieta residents protesting illegal immigrants , as terrorists. The Tequila Party , a pro-amnesty group, reportedly formed in opposition to the Tea Party. The group is reportedly leading the effort against residents of the California town that blocked busloads of illegal immigrants attempting to roll into the area.

The Latino Tequila Party had their group’s attorney sent a letter to DOJ Director Eric Holder and FBI Director James Comey about the Murrieta protesters earlier this week. The pro-amnesty group wants the Tea Party and several other officials investigated as domestic terrorists for their roles in blocking the buses of illegal immigrants and protesting their transfer.

The Tequila Party letter was signed by attorney Ruben Salazar and amnesty activist Dee Dee Garcia Blasé, and Nebraska attorney Shirl Mora James. The letterhead used reportedly indicated a group name change and had the phrase “Somos Independents” at the top.

The Somos Independents letter strongly urged the Justice Department and the FBI to launch an investigation into Murrieta City Council member Diana Serafin, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents Gabe Pacheo and Steven Golda, Murrieta Mayor Alan Long, presumed protest leader Patrice Lynes, town resident Joseph Culberson, as well as the Murrieta Police Department.

The letter sent by the pro-amnesty group also accuses Tea party activist in Murrieta of “masquerading as patriots” when actually behaving as “homeland domestic terrorists.” The letter also says the illegal immigrants protesters were “obstructing federal law enforcement from performing their jobs and terrorizing small refugee immigrant children from Central America with racial slurs.”

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, Eric Holder recently sent a DOJ Community Response Services team to investigate a parade float which mocked President Barack Obama. Some felt the political satire was racist, and therefore warranted a review by the DOJ.

Somos Independent activist Dee Dee Garcia Blasé had this to say to Brietbart News when asked about the terrorist accusations:

“I believe the DOJ will respond to all written formal requests of concern regarding Civil Rights issues. Please recall when Sheriff Joe Arpaio was investigated due to public outcry, and when Thomas E. Perez, assistant attorney general at the Department’s Civil Rights Division said at a news conference: ‘At its core, this is an abuse-of-power case involving a sheriff and sheriff’s office that disregarded the Constitution, ignored sound police practices, compromised public safety and did not hesitate to retaliate against his perceived critics.” When asked about the First Amendment rights of the Murrieta protesters and Tea Party members. Blasé was quick to point out what attorney Ruben Salazar said were free speech limitations which had already been imposed by the U.S. Supreme Court.

Salazar offered these legal rulings to support the amnesty group’s argument for a DOJ and FBI terrorism investigation:

  • Under Dennis v. US held that a State may forbid or proscribe advocacy of the use of force or violence where such advocacy is directed to inciting or producing imminent lawless action and is likely to incite or produce such action.
  • Supreme Court in Brandenburg v. Ohio enunciated the “imminent lawless action doctrine,” and held that speech is not protected by the 1st Amendment if the speaker intends to incite a violation of the law that is both imminent and likely. And, under California Penal Code Section 404.6, it is a state crime to engage in the mere urging of others to engage in acts of force or violence. And under Federal law, Title 18 USC Sec 249 prohibits hate crimes. Title 18 USC Sec 241 prohibits conspiracy against Civil Rights. Title 18 USC Sec 242 prohibits deprivation of rights under color of law.

Salazar also said:

“The 1st amendment does not protect conduct, it protects speech only and it appears there were some individuals who were engaged in potential criminal conspiracy to violate federal and state laws. Furthermore, we would like for DOJ and the FBI to determine who made the decision to block the bus since Mayor Alan Long admitted several protesters were from out of town–allegedly from FAIR or Numbers USA. This protest was highly organized. Did these out of town Tea Party protesters potentially violate Title 18 USC section 241, conspiracy against Civil Rights?”

Some have already pointed out that the groups of illegal immigrants working together to cross the Texas border in violation of federal law also fall under Salazar’s “conspiracy to violate” definition of terrorist. What do you think about the Tea Party and illegal immigrants Murrieta protesters being called terrorists?
