A Photoshop request isn’t typically something that makes the front page of the Reddit community, nor is it something that goes viral. But when user steffel07 revealed the reason behind his own, I almost couldn’t read any further.
For any of you who have ever had children, get ready to drop a few tears of your own.
The user writes: “Photoshop Request: My daughter recently passed away after a long battle in the children’s hospital. Since she was in the hospital her whole life we never were able to get a photo without all her tubes. Can someone remove the tubes from this photo?”
The story could stop right here, and it would have rattled me to the core. After 10 long months of pregnancy and its immediate aftermath, I realized that this father was experiencing my own worst fear.
Luckily, my own daughter was born healthy, and she’s developing fine.
Still, it’s completely easy to empathize with the emotions steffel07 must have been going through when he posted that request — and what he and his wife continue to suffer with the loss of their child.
Luckily, the Reddit community was quick to respond. Not only did they upvote the Photoshop request to the very top of the front page, they also gave this dad exactly what he was asking for.
Here are the finished products from users tacothecat and evrengoldfish :
steffel07 has since responded: “Wow that is awesome. I showed my wife and she teared up. Thank you so very much.”
The rest of the community showed support as well through the comments section:
“Wow! You and Tacothecat both did a great job, and for a great cause. Maybe you just helped the parents get a little closure! Major Props guys!… OP – I am so sorry for your loss, and pray you find the closure you both deserve!”
“She was beautiful before this, but you did an amazing job”
“I’m sorry or your loss, brother. She’s beautiful. Stay strong.”
“Man I teared up just reading this comment. My condolences…. You did a good thing today u/tacothecat.”
“I recently had a daughter. I can’t even begin to imagine your pain. You have my deepest condolences.”
“I feel for you friend. My wife and I lost our first child, but we ended up going on to have three healthy daughters. You never forget though…. Hang in there!”
Never thought something as simple as a Photoshop request would move me to tears, but this did it. Good night, angel, from all of us at The Inquisitr . You are, were, and always will be one beautiful little girl.
