De Jesus III was gunned down as he sat in his car while waiting for a man who was interested in buying a Samsung tablet or Ipad.

40-year-old Felix De Jesus III had advertised the sale of the tablet on Craigslist.

Craigslist victim Felix Dejesus III., originally from Brooklyn, New York was murdered on May 9, 2013. The Spanish-speaking native was a resident of Cromwell, Conn. According to his obituary, his last job was working in retail and hotel management at the Comfort Suites hotel. Grief-stricken family members were devastated by the young man’s death. His father, Felix Dejesus Jr., told NBC Connecticu t : “This guy kept on calling and calling, so the guy arranged for my son to see him last night and my son said, “Oh, I’ll be back, Dad.”

When Felix Dejesus III, parked on Allendale Road, the gunman quickly approached and shot Dejesus before he was able to exit the vehicle.

When police arrived at the scene they found Craigslist murder victim Felix Dejesus dead from a gunshot wound to the head.

Police didn’t make an arrest in the case until June 2014. That’s when Rashad Moon, 22, was charged in the crime. Rashad Moon, a man with an extensive criminal history, answered Craigslist ads in order to rob the unsuspecting individual of their property. The negotiations were made using a cell phone that was traced back to Marvin Mathis. Moon, who is also charged with first-degree robbery and first-degree murder, blamed the murder on Mathis. Police are not sure who actually killed De Jesus.

Mathis’ family feels he was set up to take the fall due to his mental health challenges.

Craigslist , which was founded in 1995, has been at the center of several murder cases in recent years. In 2009, teen killer John Katehis killed George Weber, a man he met through Craigslist.

In 2013, 50-year-old Richard Beasley was arrested and convicted for murdering three individuals who answered bogus employment ads.He was eventually sentenced to death.

One of the most famous Craigslist murders involves the case of Craiglist killer Phillip Markoff, a man who answered sex ads placed by women advertising their sex services. Julissa Brisman was killed when she encountered Markoff through one of these ads. The Lifetime original movie “The Craigslist Killer” aired in 2011.
