Justin Bieber takes 33rd place on Forbes’ new Celebrity 100 list 2014. The Canadian slipped 24 places from his ninth placing last year to tie with NBA star Kevin Durant and Jennifer Lopez, and is nowhere near Beyonce who reigns at the top. But, in real terms the kid from Ontario is still raking in the cash, with a massive $80 million haul this year alone.
Justin Bieber takes 33rd place on Forbes’ new Celebrity 100 list 2014. The Canadian singer slipped 24 places from his ninth placing last year to tie with NBA star Kevin Durant and Latin star Jennifer Lopez, and is nowhere near Beyonc e who reigns at No.1 after her epic year.
But in real terms the Ontario kid is still raking in cash. Forbes estimates Bieber brought in a massive $80 million haul this year, courtesy of tail-end earnings from his 15-month, 156-date Believe world tour. According to Pollstar , Bieber’s tour grossed $169 million.
Like everyone else on the the Celebrity 100 list, Bieber doesn’t just generate money from his day job.
The 20-year-old has a diversified portfolio which includes stock in private tech startups such as messaging platform Tinychat, Enflick, social-curation app Stamped, gaming portal Sojo Studios, digital music service Spotify, video platform Viddy and the selfie app Shots of Me — which Bieber led a $1.1 million seed round in before it launched in November 2013, Forbes reports.
Bieber also has a perfume range. The Someday women’s fragrance broke records back in June 2011, earning $3 million in just under three weeks at Macy’s and won the Elizabeth Taylor Fragrance Celebrity of the Year Award in 2012. Bieber’s follow ups were Girlfriend in 2012 and The Key Eau de Parfum in 2013.
But while Bieber is still making big bucks, Forbes notes the star’s slip from third place on the Celebrity 100 in 2012, ninth in 2013, to 33rd in 2014. However, the outlet notes that with over 52.5 Twitter followers Bieber has the highest social-networking reach of any entrant on their 2014 list.
The finance publication ranks its list from the worlds of music, film, television, books, sports and modelling. It gathers data on earnings from variants such as brand endorsements, music sales and this year covers the period from June 1, 2013 to June 1, 2014.
To measure fame, Forbes looks at social media footprints, the amount of times a celebrity is mentioned and in what context across media, other signifiers, cultural impact and reputation.
Although this is a sabbatical year for Bieber after an arduous tour and a bad PR year from 2013, legal cases in 2014 and the leaking of old videos of him as a child using the N-word, have dipped the Bieber brand’s value.
But, brands recover. And that’s what comebacks are for.

Meanwhile, Forbes estimates Beyonce earned $115 million between June 1, 2013 and June 1, 2014 and played 95 shows on her highly acclaimed Mrs. Carter show world tour, pulling in an average $2.4 million per stop.
The 32 year-old diva stealth-dropped her self-named album in December 2013 and garnered staggering sales on iTunes and critical wows for her “visual album” which had a music video for each of the 14 songs.
Like Bieber, Queen Bey ‘s gross earnings are bolstered by brand endorsements with H&M and Pepsi, her fragrances Heat, Rise and Pulse and House of Dereon — the fashion brand with her mother and sister. On June 25, Beyonce kicked off a joint tour with rapper husband Jay Z in Miami – namely “On The Run.” The entire run is 20 shows, but ticket prices are sky high.
So, to recap:
Beyonce is No 1, NBA’s LeBron James at No.2, post Beats sale to Apple brings Dr. Dre to No.3, Oprah Winfrey is at No. 4, and daytime host comedienne Ellen DeGeneres is at No. 5. Bieber is No. 33.
