Hillary Clinton, champion of women’s rights?
The Arkansas woman who was raped as a 12-year-old reportedly claims that then-defense attorney Hillary Clinton took her “through hell.”
As The Inquisitr previously reported , audio tape recordings have surfaced which depict Hillary Clinton bragging and laughing about getting one of the allegedly guilty suspects in the 1975 case a reduced jail sentence on a lesser charge — in part by discrediting if not blaming the victim for being supposedly emotionally unstable as well as trying to undermine the evidence against her client.
On the 1980s-vintage tape in which for some reason the former Secretary of State sounds like she is speaking with a southern accent, Clinton also seemed to find it particularly amusing that her client managed to pass a lie detector test.
In an interview with The Daily Beast , the rape victim, now 52, expressed strong reservations about Hillary Clinton’s reputation as an advocate for women’s rights:
“Hillary Clinton took me through hell… I would say [to Clinton], ‘You took a case of mine in ’75, you lied on me… I realize the truth now, the heart of what you’ve done to me. And you are supposed to be for women? You call that [being] for women, what you done to me? And I hear you on tape laughing.’”
Continued the victim, whose name has not been released for privacy reasons:
“It’s proven fact, with all the tapes [now revealed], she lied like a dog on me. I think she was trying to do whatever she could do to make herself look good at the time …. She wanted it to look good, she didn’t care if those guys did it or not… Them two guys should have got a lot longer time. I do not think justice was served at all.”
The Washington Free Beacon , which unearthed the tapes of the Hillary Clinton interview with journalist Roy Reed in the archives at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, offered this analysis of the rape case that led to a plea bargain:
“… No matter your view of Hillary Clinton, no matter your position on legal ethics, the recording of the Reed interview is news. It tells us something we did not already know. It tells us that, when her guard was down, Clinton found the whole disturbing incident a trifling and joking matter. And the fact that so many supposedly sophisticated and au courant journalists and writers have dismissed the story as nothing more than an attorney ‘doing her job’ is… equally disturbing… Hillary Clinton was not forced to take on [the rape suspect] as a client. It was her choice — and not, for her, a hard one. Certainly that complicates our understanding of the former first lady as an unrelenting defender and advocate of women and girls…”
Questioning Hillary Clinton’s feminist credentials, Kathleen Willey , who claims she was groped by then-President Bill Clinton in the Oval Office, has previously asserted that Hillary Clinton personifies the so-called war on women.
In the middle of a somewhat contentious book tour for her Hard Choices memoir , Hillary Clinton is presumed at this point to be a 2016 candidate for president on the Democrat ticket.
