Harry Styles Fan Fiction Headed To Bookstores

Fan fiction centered around Harry Styles is officially headed to bookstores.

The legion of frustrated writers who are out there struggling to create “original content” are no doubt shaking their fists in frustration at this point. E.L. James found her career ascending into the stratosphere after penning some Twilight fanfic, which ultimately became the worldwide phenomenon known as Fifty Shades of Grey .

The same thing is about to happen to author Anna Todd. She penned a steamy piece of fiction entitled After centered around One Direction singer Harry Styles. The tale was so popular with readers at Wattpad that Simon & Schuster are giving the story a proper release. However, Todd will need to make a few changes important changes beforehand.

Music Times reports that Anna will need to remove all references to Harry Styles from the story ahead of its release. Since using the singer’s name simply isn’t feasible, the author will need to tweak and modify the tale just a bit. Although the names are different, the story should essentially remain the same.

Here’s what the Harry Styles fanfic is all about:

“[Tess Young is a] college student with a simple life, excellent grades, and a sweet boyfriend. She always has things planned out ahead of time, until she meets a rude boy named Harry, with too many tattoos and piercings who shatters her plans.”

In addition to removing all references to Harry Styles, Todd — who admitted that she penned the first chapter in about five minutes — will add a few bits and pieces to the original story to entice fans to pick up the book. If you’re at all curious to experience the romance in its original form, then swing by Wattpad .

There’s also a chance that this Harry Styles fanfic will arrive on the big screen down the road. The folks at UTA are reportedly shopping the movie rights around Hollywood, though chances are everyone is waiting to see how well Fifty Shades of Grey performs at the box office. Should that adaptation bring in piles of cash on Valentine’s Day, then expect studios to throw a significant amount of money in Anna Todd’s general direction.

For those who are deeply concerned about the removal of Harry Styles from the story, please don’t despair. Todd has assured everyone that the character’s new name will still begin with an “H.” So keep writing that fanfic, One Direction fans. The next person who gets a six-figure deal from a major published might be you.
