Just when you think Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson’s names would never be joined together in a headline again, a recent news item proves otherwise. Despite Kristen Stewart cheating and then very publicly apologizing to her beau Pattinson, the two still remain in contact with one another.
It’s a shock since Pattinson had not only moved on in numerous relationships, one being a brief tangle with Dylan Penn , but also closed the chapter of the Twilight franchise that started his romance with Stewart.
Despite Pattinson and Stewart’s rocky, on-again off-again past, the two have apparently buried their hard feelings. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter , Robert Pattinson replied , “Oh, yeah” when asked if he was still in touch with Kristen Stewart.
Stewart isn’t the only co-star that Pattinson keeps in touch with. According to the actor, he still plays poker with Twilight’s Kellan Lutz. Of his co-star’s poker game, the former heart throb said:
“It’s ridiculous! It’s like they basically just ask, ‘Do you want to spend $500 to hang with us?’ ‘Oh, great!’”
Pattinson, who has been very open about what he thinks of the Twilight franchise, admitted during the interview that he found his role as the vampire Edward Cullen challenging.
“It was quite a constricting character, in a way. You want to make [him] as dramatic as possible, but you have someone who never loses his temper, and so it’s like, ‘How the f**k do you do this?’ I think that was one of the hardest jobs I’ve ever done.”
Although it was a difficult role for Pattinson to play, he did note that it’s one that certainly made his career as he was ready to throw in the towel right before he scored the coveted role of Bella’s true love.
“It was basically the last-chance saloon when I got Twilight .”
Since the Twilight franchise ended, the actor has focused on meatier roles that are degrees away from the genre he could have been stuck in. His first step away from Twilight was in Water for Elephants opposite Reese Witherspoon, then Pattinson tried his hand at indie films like Bel Ami , and Cosmopolis .
Coming up the Twilight hunk turned serious actor has The Rover opposite Guy Pearce, David Cronenberg’s Maps to the Stars , Queen of the Desert , and the James Dean biopic opposite Dane DeHaan in Life . From the looks of it, he’s putting Twilight in his rearview mirror despite still being in friendly terms with Kristen Stewart.
