Scarlett Johansson has bravely announced that she is sick and tired of being “an object of desire” and would prefer to focus her attention on her current pregnancy with her first child.
At 29, Johansson, who is pregnant from her fiance Romain Dauriac, also said that she isn’t worried about the aging process and feels less and less pressure to be the perfect looking woman people expect her to be.
She spoke about how it feels to be the object of so many peoples’ desire, and how life as a s ex symbol is for her:
“I don’t want to be the ingénue any more. That part I’m happy about. It’s nice to be glamorous, but I don’t want to always have to be trendy and glamorous and an object of desire. I don’t want to be stuck in that forever. Because it doesn’t last,” she said.
Scarlett Johansson went on to tell The Weekend Australian Magazine that she feels women in Hollywood are under far more scrutiny than their male counterparts:
“With [male actors] it just doesn’t happen the same way. You can be every woman’s fantasy and nobody thinks twice about the fact that you have eight kids or whatever,” she said.
As well as her recent controversial issue with Oxfam, who criticized her for representing SodaStream, an Israeli based company, Scarlett Johansson is pretty brave and outspoken when it comes to, well, just about everything.
She already admitted that she would like to have her cake and eat it, saying that she wanted to be able to juggle being a new mom together with her busy career. “I want to be able to have it all. Selfishly,” she said.
Johansson was also upfron t and candid when she admitted that she faced the trials and tribulations of stardom better as a young adult than she would have as a teenager. “I feel very fortunate that I was able to have a bit of a smoother transition into my young adulthood without having people videotaping me,” she said.
