With the superhero and monster movies of this summer blockbuster season, one could forget that Pixar isn’t releasing a movie this year. Next year, though, the animation powerhouse will release two films, and Pixar just announced details on the first one: Inside Out .

Previously, Pixar had revealed only scant details on its next animated feature, saying that it would take viewers “inside the mind” of its protagonist. Now, as Variety reports, Pixar has let slip a little bit more about its new feature:

Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it’s no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions – Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith). The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley’s mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley’s main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school.”

So… basically… Pixar’s take on Herman’s Head ?

… wow, we just dated ourselves there.

In any case, moviegoers might have gotten used to a yearly Pixar release , with Cars , Ratatouille , and WALL-E on through Monsters University being released almost like clockwork every year from 2006 to 2013. Prior to that, Pixar had been a bit more sporadic in its releases. Toy Story came out in 1995, but it wasn’t until 1998 that Pixar put out A Bug’s Life .

Pixar’s newest work will see Pete Docter taking the director’s chair, a role he previously filled for Monsters, Inc. and Up . Docter also worked on the story for Toy Story , Toy Story 2 , and Wall-E , and the Pixar veteran also served as executive producer for Monsters University .

So what was with Pixar’s delay for Inside Out ? It may have something to do with Pixar’s insistence on perfection. Maybe there’s been a burst of creativity in the animation company, as Pixar will release two films next year. Inside Out is set to hit theaters on June 19, and Pixar will follow that up with The Good Dinosaur , scheduled for release on November 25.

There are at least two other Pixar films in the offing. June of 2016 will see the release of Finding Dory , the sequel to Finding Nemo . Pixar will bring back Ellen Degeneres in her role as Dory, the fish with the memory of.. well.. a fish. Another untitled Pixar film is in the works from Lee Unkrich, who worked on Toy Story 3 , Finding Nemo , and multiple other Pixar releases.
