Dragon Age: Inquisition , the third and latest installment in BioWare’s Dragon Age series, gave the gaming world some more insights into the highly anticipated fantasy RPG, including a fall release date. Preorders of Dragon Age: Inquisition will grant one the “Flames of the Inquisition” DLC pack, which includes new weapons, armor and a mount. A digital deluxe of the PC game , asking for an extra $10 on top of the standard $59.99 pricetag, includes the “Flames of the Inquisition” DLC, a digital soundtrack and other unspecified “digital content”, as well as three unique items: a throne made from a dragon skull called the Skyhold Throne, a horned mount called Red Hart Halla, and a Bog Unicorn mount. You read that right: a unicorn . In Dragon Age: Inquisition you can ride a unicorn. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim didn’t have unicorns . No word yet on an actual physical deluxe edition, but the official Dragon Age Twitter account let us know not to worry.

Dragon Age: Inquisition centers around, and puts the player in the shoes of, the mysterious Inquisitor. The only survivor of an explosion that creates a magical rift known as The Breach, through which demons pour out into the world of Thedas, you are thought to be sent from a higher power to help save the world. You are given the opportunity to lead a group called “The Inquisition” in a quest close strange tear in the sky that acts as a demonic highway and stop the evil that it allows to invade. Creative director for Dragon Age: Inquisition , Mark Laidlaw, spoke to Polygon on the interesting religious connotations surrounding the character you play:

“There’s an interesting undertone here of people in the world believing that you have been sent as a leader by the maker of the universe. As a player, I have the option of saying, ‘Oh yeah, I’m the chosen one’ or asking what the hell they are talking about. It’s up to the player.”

“After the big explosion, the heads of the factions in the civil war are killed and so the Inquisition moves in to fill the gap,” added Laidlaw. “Once you come out of the Fade, you show yourself to be a leader. Someone has to take control and the power of the Inquisition gives you the freedom to take action.” Dragon Age: Inquisition will be available on PC, Playstation 3, Playstation 4, XBox 360, and Xbox One on October 7th, 2014. The Dragon Age Twitter also tweeted a reveal of the Dragon Age: Inquisition box art, presumably depicting both The Inquisitor and The Breach.
