X-Men Director Bryan Singer Accused Of Raping Boy In 1999

Hollywood writer and director Bryan Singer has been accused of raping a teenage boy in 1999, according to a lawsuit filed earlier today in federal court in Hawaii.

The Hollywood Reporter says that the lawsuit was filed by Michael F. Egan, III, which is not a pseudonym, and alleges that Singer sexually assaulted, used other force, and forced the boy to inhale cocaine and drink alcohol.

Egan was 17-years-old at the time of the alleged assaults by Singer and the lawsuit, which is reportedly very graphic in detail, says that the assaults took place at “sordid parties” on estates in Los Angeles and also in Kailua, Hawaii. The sordid parties are described as “sexual contact between adult males and the many teenage boys who were present for the parties.”

Egan described himself in the lawsuit and a press release as heterosexual and says that he was forced to perform the acts in order to maintain his hopes for a career in Hollywood.

According to Variety , many people in the Hollywood industry were aware of the “notorious parties” being held in Encino, Calif. by Bryan Singer and his associates, meant to lure young men eager to begin acting careers to the house. Included in the lawsuit, though not as a defendant, was Marc Collins-Rector, former chairman of Digital Entertainment Network. Collins-Rector is a registered sex offender after having pleaded guilty to leading minors across state lines to perform sexual acts.

TMZ is reporting that Singer has already denied the validity of the lawsuit.

“The claims made against Bryan Singer are completely without merit. We are very confident that Bryan will be vindicated in this absurd and defamatory lawsuit,” Singer’s lawyer said in a statement.

The lawsuit also alleges that, at one point, Egan was promised a role in an X-Men film by Singer, who according to the lawsuit, performed oral sex on Egan and then forced him to do the same while underwater in a pool.

Bryan Singer is famously known as writer, producer, and director of several X-Men movies, including next month’s X-Men: Days of Future Past , which just released its third and final trailer yesterday.

“It is obvious that this case was filed in an attempt to get publicity at a time when Bryan’s new movie is about to open in a few weeks,” Singer’s attorney added.

X-Men: Days of Future Past is set to be released on May 23, 2014.
