Lauren Silverman Affair ‘Just Happened,’ Says Simon Cowell

Lauren Silverman and Simon Cowell made headlines last year when the pair announced that they were having an affair and expecting a child, and now the X-Factor creator is finally opening up about getting his best friend’s wife pregnant.

Lauren was the wife of Simon’s friend Andrew Silverman, but as the pair grew apart she and Simon Cowell grew closer together.

Now Simon Cowell for the first time is talking publicly about Lauren Silverman affair, telling The Mirror that while he has shame over the relationship itself, becoming a father has changed his life.

“You can start to live a slightly abnormal life and there is no question of doubt I was heading down that path,” the X Factor creator said of his life before son Eric was born. “Too many late-night phone calls. Too obsessed with things.”

Seeing baby Eric changed him, Cowell said, and helped take away the regret he had from betraying his friend.

“But then of course you have a baby and you look at the baby and you kinda go, ‘This is what happened from it.’ In this situation you are not going to come out of this well because of the circumstances,” Cowell said.

Lauren Silverman and her husband finalized their divorce in December, and she and Cowell have officially started their own relationship.

As the two raise Eric together, Cowell said he’s prepared to deal with whatever criticism comes his way.

“It is not something I am proud of or wanted to happen in terms of hurting anyone,” he said. “It just happened. You have to deal with it and man up to it. You have to accept the responsibility and the criticism. All I can say is, my advice to you is if it happens to you, you just have to deal with it a day at a time and own up to your responsibilities.”

Simon Cowell and Lauren Silverman are certainly proud of their little guy. They have shared a number of pictures of Eric, and even the tough exterior of Cowell has shown some cracks when talking about his son. Just two days after Eric was born, Simon tweeted: “The last three days have been incredible. Eric Lauren sqiddly and diddly all happy.”
