Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore are at it again. After putting their chemistry to the test in two successful films, The Wedding Singer and 50 First Dates , Sandler and Barrymore are teaming up for a new romcom called Blended .
Instead of playing sweethearts that fall in love, or a couple that has to fall in love again and again to save their relationship, Sandler and Barrymore play single parents, who go on a terrible blind date, and accidentally end up vacationing at the same African safari resort with their children. Of course Adam and Drew’s characters are also complete opposites, which makes only makes their inevitable reunion sweeter.
The official synopsis for Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler’s film Blended is as follows:
“After a bad blind date, a man and woman find themselves stuck together at a resort for families, where their attraction grows as their respective kids benefit from the burgeoning relationship.”
While the setting looks like an excuse for Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler to go on a vacation together, Blended does look like it will be the kind of comedy that fans of the pair have come to expect. We’re just wondering why it seems like the two need close to ten years to team up again on the big screen.
Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler addressed this earlier in the year by appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon . During the appearance the two sang an adorable impromptu song together about their love for each other, and how they always seem to come together after years pass.
Some memorable lines from the song include Barrymore crooning, “Every 10 years, I promise to love you.” Sandler echoed the sentiment, singing, “I’ll always be true, even as we get older.” Later on in the song Drew promised that they would reunite again for the big screen, while singing, “I will love you when you’re 64,” and Sandler countered, “I will still love you when your boobs touch the floor.” Barrymore jokingly shot back, “So, right now?” Needless to say, it was a magical moment.
Of working with his “cinematic soul mate” Drew Barrymore, Adam Sandler told Access Hollywood :
“I’m asked about her about four to five times a day, wherever I go. We’re family, her husband is a great man, and she’s tight with my whole family. We have a good life.”
The two were asked why they only work once a decade with each other, and surprisingly this wasn’t the big screen couple’s intention.
“It sort of worked out that way thus far. We were talking maybe next time five years. We are getting older so I don’t know how much longer we can wait, every ten years,” said Barrymore.
Fans of the two can catch their new film Blended when it hits theaters on May 23, 2014.
