Nicole Kidman will be back on the big screen with the release of several films this year. One that she is particularly excited about is her role as Grace Kelly in Grace Of Monaco. The film is set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival this year, after it had to be postponed last year because of creative differences between the director and the distributer, as reported by HuffingtonPost.com .
On playing the part of Grace Kelly, Kidman stated, as reported by TravelersToday.com that she truly admires the Princess of Monaco. Kidman continues to say, “I think she has such otherworldly qualities. I think she has an aura about her.” Nicole goes on to say how she was honored to play her in the film.
Grace Kelly was an actress in her own right at the age of twenty. Kelly starred in five leading roles, and received several nominations from The Golden Gloves as well as the Academy Awards.
TravelersToday.com reveals that Grace of Monaco focuses on the fairytale aspect of Grace Kelly’s life when she chose love over her career at the age of twenty-six and married Prince Rainier. The film also reveals Kelly’s struggles as a new princess and issues her family had to deal with.
Kidman opens up to the HuffingtonPost.com and states, “”It was the chance of a lifetime to play her. I really admire her, and I think she has such otherworldly qualities. I think she has an aura about her. I don’t know if I’m able to capture that, but I was honored to have the chance to.”
While Nicole says she plans on seeing Grace of Monaco opening night at the premier at Cannes, the Royal family feels quite differently. USMagazine.com reports that the Monaco Royal family had disputes regarding the film. It is reported that Prince Albert is disconcerted about the representation of his father, Prince Rainier. Prince Albert feels the movie portrays his father as a “one-sided leader who is controlling over his wife,” per USMagazine.com .
Kidman explains to HuffingtonPost.com that, “It’s only a six-month period of her life that we depict. It’s a fairytale. It’s not a heavy drama. It’s got beautiful costumes. It’s sumptuous.”
In her personal life, Kidman seems to be living a fairytale of her own, married to country star, Keith Urban. In fact, when CTVnews.ca asked her what made her happy, her response was simply, “Happiness, that’s obviously different for everybody, but what I call my joy, the thing that makes me feel incredibly satiated, is my family, and then I get to go and play out all of my ideas and feelings through all these different characters. Then, I come back to just being mama.”
With her absence from the silver screen, it will be great to see Nicole Kidman back in action.
