Hillary Clinton struggled to identify her signature accomplishments as US Secretary of State in a recent public appearance.
Moderator Tom Friedman, who along with his paper The New York Times , is or will be completely on board with the presumed Hillary Clinton 2016 presidential candidacy, asked her what she was most proud of during her time on the job. The occasion was the Women of the World Summit in New York City on Thursday, which ironically took place in the David H. Koch Theater ( the Democrats consider Koch as public enemy #1 and his brother Charles as #1A).
Clinton gave a rambling answer that was short of specifics (watch the video embedded below and draw your own conclusions). During her response, she talked about such things as passing the baton, unfinished work, the US economy, restoring American leadership in the world (an interesting assertion given recent events such as the failed “reset” with Russia), and tossed in a plug for her upcoming book. As Powerline notes, “it might be passable for low-information voters, but she should probably sharpen that answer up a bit as she prepares to seek higher office.”
Last month, Hillary Clinton’s supporters at a Democrat political conference also struggled to come up with any of her accomplishments while she was running the State Department.
According to Politico , “… even many of her most ardent defenders recognize Hillary Clinton had no signal accomplishment at the State Department to her name, no indelible peace sealed with her handshake, no war averted, no nuclear crisis defused.”
The taxpayer probably would not consider financial mismanagement as a particularly good accomplishment. “The State Department misplaced and lost some $6 billion due to the improper filing of contracts during the past six years, mainly during the tenure of former Secretary of State Hilary Clinton, according to a newly released Inspector General report.”
Benghazi mom Pat Smith has alleged that Hillary Clinton is responsible for the death of her son Sean Smith at the American embassy compound in Libya when the US failed to deploy a rescue team to save Smith and three other Americans who were killed by terrorists there on September 11, 2012.
What do you think Hillary Clinton has accomplished during her time in public office?
