Hilary Duff Signs New Record Deal, Prepares For ‘Phase 2’

Hilary Duff is officially ready to drop some new music on the masses.

The former Lizzie Maguire star has teased the release of a brand new album since last year. However, Duff’s plans for musical domination took one massive step forward when she signed a brand new record deal. This means Hilary could release the new tunes sooner rather than later, which is definitely a good thing for her fans.

According to Entertainmentwise , Duff said goodbye to Hollywood Records after her contract expired back in 2008. Although it appeared that the singer would release her new album independently, apparently that’s no longer the case.

Check out a pic of Hilary Duff signing all of the paperwork below.

To prove that she’s still very hard at work on the new batch of tunes, Duff posted an image on Twitter from the recording studio. It’s clear that the singer is working hard to compete with the glut of new singers who have popped up since her last album.

Speaking of her last record, it’s been seven years since Dignity landed on store shelves. Hilary Duff marked the occasion with a post on Twitter. Judging from her comments, she’s eager to get the next part of her career underway.

Just because Duff is ready and willing to dive head-first into the music industry after seven years away from the game doesn’t mean she’s not aware of the competition. In fact, Hilary admitted that she’s a little intimidated by the popularity of her fellow singers.

“It’s such a different business now. Honestly, it can be intimidating. I’m not comparing myself to (Miley Cyrus) but a lot of the things that go on in pop music are not me or who I am. Or not yet. Who knows what I’m going to wake up tomorrow and feel like? I really just try to come and be who I am,” she explained.

The singer added, “[Taylor Swift] is really honest with her lyrics and her stage show isn’t like some crazy thing that’s controversial. But I think what Miley Cyrus is doing is really cool and I think she’s being who she wants to be and that is important. And so I respect that.”
