For the longest time, WWE fans have wanted Sting to wrestle the Undertaker at Wrestlemania. With the torrent of rumors flooding the internet, it is seriously a hot topic within the industry. Now a rumor is going around that Sting will sign a contract for only one match in the WWE, and it is only against the Undertaker.
According to the Wrestling Observer through What Culture , Sting is already studying Undertaker tapes in order to prepare himself for a match against “The Phenom”. WWE could set up the match, and build hype over the course of the year, until Wrestlemania XXXI. The hype can actually start at Wrestlemania, which is a big possibility since Sting will be at Wrestlecon. That event will take place in New Orleans on April 5th and 6th. Wrestlemania XXX happens on April 6th. Ergo, an alteration between the two legends could happen.
The Examiner does clarify that it is unknown if Sting signed a WWE contract or not. However, with the previous reports, here on The Inquisitr , of Sting wanting to wrestle The Undertaker in his last match , it is highly possible he did.
Sting spent his entire career wrestling in the NWA, WCW, and TNA Impact Wrestling brands. When WWE purchased WCW, Sting was one of the high-priced contracts the WWE did not pick up. Unlike fellow WCW wrestlers, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, and Goldberg, Sting chose not to go to the WWE after his contract expired. Instead, he jumped ship to TNA Impact Wrestling and won their championship five times. Add it to the seven times he won in NWA and WCW, he is in the same league as Triple H.
After thirteen years, the only big name wrestler WWE never had, is finally strapping his boots for the company. Even if WWE signs Sting for just one match against the Undertaker, it will be one of the biggest investments they’ll ever make. This is probably one of the few times that a match goes beyond a brand, including the WWE. It is Undertaker and Sting after all. Let’s just hope it doesn’t turn out to be like Goldberg versus Brock Lesnar.
