Lil Wayne thinks his fans are going to love Tha Carter V . However, they should anticipate something a little different the upcoming release.
The rapper is putting together what is possibly his final solo album, though it’s still unclear if the guy is truly finished making music. Regardless of whether he intends to craft more songs at some point down the road, Lil Wayne is putting everything into the upcoming record.
The rapper discussed the project during a quick chat with MTV News . Although Lil Wayne says the songs are “coming together dope,” he revealed that his age has definitely helped put a different spin on the material.
“I say it’s different, because I’m older and wiser, and I know more things and I know more about myself now. I’m more careful about what I’m doing and trying to be more careful what I’m saying,” Weezy explained.
Lil Wayne added, “I knew that I had people above me or around me that was gonna make sure whatever I said or shouldn’t have said or whatever I did or shouldn’t have did. Well now, I’m those people, and I’m telling me what I should do and what I shouldn’t say.”
The rapper previously hinted that Tha Carter V is his final release as a solo artist. Although Jimmy Kimmel poked a little fun at Weezy for announcing his retirement, Lil Wayne continued to play this card during his recent appearance at SXSW .
According to The Huffington Post , the rapper discussed the issue during an interview at the annual festival in Austin, Texas. While he still plans to help Young Money artists with their own musical efforts, this could be the last Lil Wayne album the world ever hears.
“I’m approaching it like it is my last project, and I think that’s why it’s a lot different than everything else. That’s why I think the grind is different. I’m working harder. I’m approaching it a whole lot different. I’m approaching it as if you don’t have tomorrow,” the rapper revealed.
Folks who need a Lil Wayne fix at this very moment should seriously consider picking up the Young Money compilation Rise of an Empire . The collection of tunes features Drake, Nicki Minaj, Tyga, Gudda Gudda, Shanell, Lil Twist, and Christina Milian.
“Even though we’ve been honored with accolades as a company, our hunger hasn’t diminished or dwindled. We’re hungrier than ever, and we’re still building. We’re not going anywhere. We don’t plan on stopping-ever. Our goal is the expansion of this Empire with the next generation of kings and queens ruling,” COO Cortez Bryant explained.
