The official Assassin’s Creed 5 location may have been revealed, and a poster hanging in the offices of Ubisoft Montreal shows what may be the protagonist. The location announced last month on Twitter , via a set of coordinates, pointed to Russia as the AC 5 location. However, in light of the recent conflict between Russia and Ukraine , that may change for political reasons and postpone the release date.
For now the only solid evidence of anything involving Ubisoft’s latest entry in the series comes down to a set of coordinates and a poster .
The poster spotted near some stairs in the offices of Ubisoft Montreal show us a very assassin-like character clad almost entirely in black under a blurb which says “Welcome to the Creed.” While that doesn’t really narrow anything down, the biggest clue is what the character appears to be holding. In his right hand sits a revolver, an invention which as far as we know didn’t exist until after the 1830s. This may not be an actual picture of the office, either, and could be a fictional office from a screen shot of the game.

If the poster is any indication of the Assassin’s Creed 5 location, the revolver certainly rules out any ancient times. Ancient Egypt, feudal Japan, and Biblical times have officially been ruled out, as this shows us a time period later than anything we’ve seen before, except for modern times. It won’t be the present day though, as Ubisoft has already told us that Assassin’s Creed will never take place in the present time, beyond possible adventures outside the animus.
For gamers wanting a more modern twist on Ubisoft’s open world adventures, Watch Dogs is coming soon.
Keep it in mind, however, that the poster shown may be yet another misleading piece of speculation just like the information supposedly “leaked” in Assassin’s Creed 4 ‘s emails and office news crawlers. Ubisoft is keeping nearly everything under wraps aside from the above mentioned coordinates pointing to Montreal and Russia.
The black-clad figure with the revolver could indicate that the AC 5 location and time period could definitely be set after the November Uprising between the Polish Army and Russia, which occurred between 1830 and 1831. With the setting of Freedom Cry being in Port au Prince, and the November Uprising having started in Paris, there is definitely a connection with France involved. It is worth noting that the Polish Revolution failed, so the Assassin’s Creed 5 time period indicated by the revolver could be pointing to a secret second attempt to overthrow the Russian government after the Poles surrendered on October 5.

Again, this is mostly speculation, but given the current situation, the setting of Russia could be a case of bad timing. It could also be inconsequential and not affect the AC 5 release date at all.
Another possible setting for the Assassin’s Creed 5 location and time period is the French Revolution, in which Louis-Philippe , Duke of Orléans, was the monarch of France until 1848. It resulted in the first French President, Napoleon III, who saw the creation of the French Second Republic.
Much of what we know about Assassin’s Creed 5 is mostly speculation based on minimal evidence, but we will continue to keep guessing until Ubisoft officially confirms what we think is true. Of course fans of the series will conclude that nothing is true, and everything is permitted.
