Kate Hudson and her husband-to-be, Matt Bellamy, are reportedly in the midst of relationship problems that could bring their three-year engagement to a screeching halt.
The Bride Wars star and Muse guitarist have a 2-year-old song, Bing, together. However a source has now told USWeekly that they have begun to grow apart.
“They realized they are in different places in their lives,” the insider noted. “They grew apart. It’s not good right now. They’re taking time apart to try to make things work.”
Rather than throwing in the towel though, Bellamy hasn’t given up on rekindling their love. The source noted, “Matt loves Kate and Bing immensely, so hopefully they can work through it.”
Speculation over the state of their relationship increased on Tuesday after the 34-year-old actress was spotted without her decadent engagement ring at BVLGARI’s Decades of Glamour event. She even arrived solo to the gathering.
An EOnline insider, while acknowledging that not everything is hunky dory between the pair 100% of the time, did deny that they were on the brink of splitting up.
“They are OK,” they noted. “They go through their ups and downs like every other couple. It’s true that occasionally they don’t spend as much time together as they would like, work pulls them apart from time to time. But they are working on strengthening their relationship.”
The source also added that rather than pondering over the past they are actually looking to the future, and they are both immensely committed to making their relationship work.
“They do not see this as being a broken marriage that is beyond repair. Quite the opposite, in fact. They are optimistic about the future and see that it will work out,” they remarked. “They don’t think for a second that they won’t get through this. They love one another very much and will do what it takes to make it work.”
However, rumors have started to swirl that Hudson longs for the single life, and she is even believed to have told close confidantes that she actually “misses” it.
Just last month, Hudson discussed her upcoming nuptials on Live! With Kelly and Michael , where she stated, “I come from an unconventional family—they’re not married, my parents aren’t married. There’s a part of me that goes, if I’m going to do it, I’m going to do it right. I’m going to take the time to really plan it right, and it’s a lot. Planning a wedding is a lot!”
