Assassin’s Creed 5 Location Likely Russia, AC 5 Release Date Still In 2014?

The AC 5 location is not in Japan, according to Ubisoft, but the Assassin’s Creed 5 release date still hasn’t been confirmed in 2014. Last year, Black Flag was officially announced in March, and the rumors nailed the official name early on, but so far Ubisoft has only hinted AC 5 might be announced . Regardless of the uncertainty created by the secrecy, it’s still likely we’ll see another annual refresh of the famous series.

In a related report by The Inquisitr , leaked photos of a presentation showing Assassin’s Creed 5: Great Fall would seem to indicate Russia is the final location based upon the similarities to the title of a comic book series.

But that’s not the only reason to suspect the Assassin’s Creed 5 location is set in Russia. Ubisoft uses a Twitter account called “acinitiates” to tease people about AC 5 , and just the other day they tweeted out what appears to be real life map coordinates:

The first set of tweets of this nature pointed to a location near the border of Alberta and Saskatchewan in Canada. AC 4 happened to feature an unnamed Abstergo employee who was located in that general area. But the second set of tweets are more interesting because the hexidecimal code could be translated into “east,” while the first referenced the north.

If you you plug those coordinates into Google maps , they do indeed lead to a part of Russia. This also makes sense since the location is nowhere near an ocean or a body of water since Ubisoft did drop a hint that ship-based combat will not be in Assassin’s Creed 5 . But keep in mind that Ubisoft has been known to deceive its fans and writers for the series even admitted as much.

Still, we do know one thing for certain: the AC 5 location won’t be in Japan. In an interview with Adweek , Jade Raymond discussed rumors that feudal Japan would be the next Assassin’s Creed 5 setting (this idea was actually started by another Ubisoft employee). Raymond says AC 5 will feature her “favorite historical era” and she also nixed any ideas about Japan although she says it’s possible for a future sequel:

“When we’re building a franchise, we’re thinking of a whole universe and how we’re developing a meta-story that could live on for many years in games and TV. If the story has nowhere to go, then you end up with the video game equivalent of The Matrix 2 or something where it’s never going to be quite as genius.”

Which Assassin’s Creed 5 location do you hope to see? Would Russia be considered a plus or minus for AC 5 in your book?
